Reasons To Experience A Concert

Now, by no means am I an expert on this topic given the fact that I have only been to one concert in my life, but from that one experience I knew that this is something special that everyone should have an opportunity to experience. Regardless of the type of music that you jam out to, there is probably an artist out there that you would enjoy seeing perform live and up close. Granted, I understand that sometimes these luxuries can be a bit costly, but it will be worth every penny and then some.

I will be giving you my own personal experience with my first and only concert that I have gone to as well as listing reasons as to why you should to go a concert if you have not already from that one experience. If you have already gone to a concert, well then these will just to reasons as to why you should go to another.

One night, I was out with a good friend of mine, cruising around town, and listening to music until a J. Cole song came up and she told me how awesome it would be to see Cole live. I told her that I have never been to a concert, and she then asked me why that was. To be honest, I did not know; the opportunity to go to one never can up. She then said that Cole is currently going on tour and that we should go if he has not passed through the midwest area yet. We found out that Cole had not, and then spontaneously we both agree that we should. From that moment on I would be going to see J. Cole on his "2014 Forest Hills Drive" Tour. The concert was going to take place in the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Chicago, Illinois, with the opening acts being YG, Jeremih and Big Sean. Tickets only were about $120 but that was completely worth it given the seats we got.

The drive to Chicago was an experience of its own because we would listen to Cole’s album then Big Sean and the others getting ourselves ready for the songs they would play. Once we were actually there, everything got surreal because it finally hit me that I would be seeing J. Cole live. The atmosphere was amazing because everyone had that one thing in common with one another, we were all here for the music. Bobbing our heads up and down, throwing our hands in the air and rapping along with the songs. The actual J. Cole part of the show was phenomenal, due to Cole going through half his album, then giving this heartfelt speech about what is real in life (which I believe you can actually find on YouTube), then playing some of his old songs such as "Lights Please," "Power Trip," "Crooked Smile," "In The Morning" and a few others, finally coming back to finish the rest of the album.

Now for the reasons why you should attend a concert of your choosing, in no particular order:

  1. You will sweat A LOT and burn so many calories due to being surrounded by tons of people causing you to sweat and from all the moving around, jumping about and dancing that you will most likely to be doing.
  2. Seeing live music can be uplifting, causing you be in a great mood during and for hours afterwards. As well as being emotionally satisfying.
  3. Anticipating the main act will most likely cause you to be on edge due to the excitement and adrenaline that is going through your body.
  4. The car ride getting to the concert can be a great experience itself. Making a trip out of it will only make it fun and add to the excitement as you get closer to your destination.
  5. It's such a great way to spend the evening. I mean really, what else would you have been doing during that time?
  6. Not many people get to experience a concert, regardless of the type, so if you have an opportunity to go to one then TAKE IT AND GO.
  7. You will appreciate artist and their music much more seeing how they pour their heart and soul into the music that you enjoy, also how much they care about their fans by giving them a great show.
  8. Being surrounded by people who enjoy the same type of music that you do is such an amazing experience. Seeing people that appreciate the art as much as you do is something that many people do not experience, so it is wonderful when you do.

Like I have mentioned, I am by no means an expert on this topic, but if I can experience all of these moments by going to at least one concert for about under $200 then why would I not do it again? Other performers I would like to go see live would definitely have to be SchoolBoy Q, Kanye West, Tyler The Creator, A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller and countless others because I cannot begin to imagine how awesome their shows would be. I encourage you to make that decision and see one of your favorite artists perform live this year. Look into their touring dates and find a show that will work for you and your friends. Enjoy the car ride their and have the time of your life. Trust me when I say that you will not regret it for a single second. I mean really, what else would you be doing at that time?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
