Why is a sister so important to us? Why is it that we run to them for every little thing that happens in life? Why do we choose them over anybody else? Why is it that they are our go- to? Why do we choose them as our ultimate best friend?

1. She's always around.

Sisters are like that annoying friend that's always hanging around, and you just can't shake them. There's nothing wrong with that, though. You love having her around to share makeup, clothes, and shoes. Not to mention the constant sleepovers when you were younger. Parents said lights out at 7:30 — we rebelled and tried to stay up until at least 8:45.

2. If she gets mad at you, she'll get over it quick.

Sure, you borrowed her brand new Kate Spade purse without asking, sure, she's furious with you for now and sure, she'll get over it in a few hours, or days. Sure, she wont talk to you while she's mad. But that's OK because you have enough videos of her singing Taylor Swift and doing fake makeup tutorials on your iPhone to last you those few days without her voice.

3. You're real with each other.

She doesn't like what you're wearing, and she'll let you know. She doesn't like the way you're eating your food, and she'll let you know. She doesn't like the way you're slumped over watching TV on the couch — she'll let you know.

4. She has always been your go-to person.

If something happens, she's always the first person you go to. If you break a fingernail or kiss Matt for the first time, there she is, ready to talk.

5. We have each others backs.

When you skipped school, she'd let your teachers know you were home sick throwing up and be sure to pick up the work you were going to be missing so you didn't get a call home.

6. You guys are a team.

If she wants some new makeup brush kit from Ulta, you mention it to dad a few times and maybe put out the flier next to his chair. You want something, she puts out the ad, and talks it up to dad. What better best friend could you ask for than one that literally lives next door.

7.No body knows you better than her

You guys have grown up together, gone through everything, and she's been there for it all. She's witnessed it with you firsthand. She's the perfect shoulder to cry on, even though she may need a shoulder to cry on herself. Thats where you come in.

8.She makes family gatherings fun

Nobody need be exposed to such things as your grandparents bickering, or your 8 aunts and uncles, luckily you got a sister who can handle it all with you.

9.People think its dumb you're best friends

Some of your friends actually think you're stupid for being such good friends with your sister and hanging out with her so often, you just kind of look at them and have to wonder whats wrong with them. So what your sister is your best friend. I'm Sorry you weren't so lucky is all I have to say.

10.She can always tell if something is wrong

Even if you're hiding something, she will figure it out. She can tell when you're lying to her, or holding something back. It will take her a little while but she will figure it out. it's in her sisterly nature.

11.She's your girl

When you need someone to laugh at your joke, give you a hug, or just comfort you, she is your girl. Your sister is the best friend you could ever ask for, and you didn't even need to.

12.She loves you unconditionally

Not to say that most friends won't but, your sister is on a whole different level when it comes to love. She has a love for you that extends beyond friendship, beyond sisterhood, it is something greater, it is a special mix of the two plus a little extra.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
