10 Reasons Why Having An Older Sister Is The Best

This article is a dedication to my one and only sister, Ali. Thank you for always being there for me and for being the best sister in the world!

1. When you were little, she will let you hang out with her friends because all of her friends thought you were so cute!

Every time my sister's friends came over when I was younger, I would walk in and my sister would tell me to go away but her friends always told me to stay! I get that she didn't want me to crash the party because of how great I am, but it was always fun to see how it played out.

2. She was the best babysitter.

Growing up, I remember that I always enjoyed my sister babysitting me even if she didn't want to. To me, I got to hang out more with my big sister! Plus, I always knew we'd have a great time getting into trouble and playing all the games I wanted to because it was her job... literally.

3. Your sister is very real and honest with you.

I have never met anyone more honest than my sister in my life. Whenever I need advice or an opinion, she is always the first person I ask because she will never beat around the bush. Sometimes it would be nice to hear a white lie when I ask if I look good in a shirt, but I always appreciate her honesty.

4. When you have nothing to wear, so you go through your sister's closet because she has the best clothes.

Seriously though, we may have different styles but my sister has the best and cutest clothes ever! Walking into her closet is like walking into a boutique I don't have to pay for!

5. You bond when your parents are going nuts.

When our parents are going crazy, we look at each other and laugh. It is one of our little ways of bonding.

6. She is an excellent listener.

Whenever I need someone to talk too, I know that I can always rely on my sister. She listens and gives me the best advice. She never makes me feel like a burden and it's nice having her always around as my best friend.

7. When your sister lives far away but you look forward to seeing her every time she comes home.

My sister lives in a different state so sometimes it can be difficult not having her around. I look forward every time she comes home even if its for a couple of days!

8. She knows when you are upset and not telling the truth.

Even if I try very hard to show that I am not upset, my sister can tell that I am. She knows me too well and cares for me too much to let it go. Sometimes I really don't want to talk about things, but it can always be really nice to get it off my chest.

9. She has been through the high school drama.

My sister went to high school before me and she understands that high school can be difficult. Before I went into high school, she gave me a lot of tips and advice on how to be successful in high school.

10. Having an older sister is truly something that I am so grateful for!

Our relationship isn't always perfect, but there is no one else I would rather run to when I have a good or bad story.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
