October is usually just an overall happy month. It's a nice prelude to the holidays starting up in November. Yeah, October has Halloween in it, but there is so much more to it than being able to wear your ghost and pumpkin patterned high socks for the month.
Fall accessories are officially socially acceptable again. Big sweaters, flannels, leggings, combat boots. The whole thing excites me. It's also not too cold to have to stick to fall attire. You can still go to happy hour in a sundress and all is good in the world. Also, dark colors are in season again. Black on black on black.
Disney Channel Halloween Movies. Hocus Pocus (my personal favorite), all of the Halloweentown's, The Haunted Mansion, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Twitches, Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire. It's exciting for us to be able to turn on Disney Channel every night and relive our childhood through these movies.
Pumpkin Patches. I've never been to one, but I feel like I have with all of the Instagram posts I've seen from last year. I guess it's a good photo op? Get your pumpkin, find a friend, and carve a pumpkin together. It's something different and fun to do, even if you're artistically inept.
Days will (hopefully) get cooler. For Floridians, we get too excited for this. 100 degree days are officially nonexistent. We can finally have hot coffee again without dying in the heat. We can walk to class without having to worry about getting sweat stains. We can sit on our balconies in our pajamas, sipping our coffee without worrying about the heat. Basically, we can step outside and not hate the sun (or ourselves.)
PILLSBURY SUGAR COOKIES. Just the fact that you all know what I'm talking about right now by such a broad description shows the importance of these cookies. These are the best cookies ever and they usually just come around for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The second you see someone post it on Snapchat, you automatically add it onto your grocery list.
Pumpkin everything. Pumpkin spice, pumpkin patches, pumpkin scents, pumpkin pies, pumpkin socks...pumpkin flavored everything for a whole month. People either love this or hate this.
Fall scents. Bath & Body Works releases their fall scents again. Leaves, Marshmallow Fireside, Autumn, Flannel, Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow. We all stock up on them for the fall.
Lastly, Halloween. Halloween lasts a whole week in college. Parties go on all week, which is awesome because we don't have to pick just one costume for one night! Who doesn't like parties, candy and dressing up?
