When you go to college, making the transition of having your own personal space to sharing a tiny room with another person might seem horrifying. But when your roommate ends up being your best friend, you’ll realize how much better it is living with someone else and wonder how you survived on your own for all of those years.
You have a constant advice-giver.
Whether it's coming back late from a night out and watching some girl make out with your crush or venting about how unfair your Organic Chemistry exam was, you know your roommate will be there to hear it all. She always seems to have the best advice for you and can give it to you at any hour of the day.
You end up with twice as many clothes.
It’s Thursday night and you’re getting dressed to go to bars. Like always, one glance at your closet and nothing seems like the right thing to wear. But when you live with your best friend, you two can share your clothes and double your wardrobe. No more worrying about outfit repeating.
An unspoken, dependable dinner date
There’s nothing better than sitting in your room, mumbling, “How good does queso sound right now?” and having your roommate say she’ll go to SATCO with you. No need to worry about meeting up with some one and going somewhere, you and your roommate can walk from your room together and bring your leftovers back to munch on together.
Wine nights wouldn’t be fun if you drank alone.
Spending the night sipping wine, munching on burnt popcorn and watching sappy Nicholas Sparks movies just doesn’t have the same effect when you do it alone. And after a few glasses of wine, you don’t even have to venture back to your own bed because you’re already in your room!
It’s like living with family.
Moving out of your childhood house is always going to be sad because you go from living with the constant comfort of family to being on your own. But when you live with your best friend, that comfort is still there. They know you better than you know yourself
You can have your friends over because your friends are her friends.
When you want your friend group to get together and do something, you don’t have to worry about upsetting your roommate by bringing a bunch of girls over. Your friends and her friends and whatever your plans are for the night are probably the same as her plans.
You don’t have to pretend to be normal.
Whether it's talking in your sleep, refusing to wear pants or finishing an entire bag of cookie dough in one sitting, she already knows you well enough to not be scared off from your crazy habits. You can be your truest self and not worry about it for a second.
She’s your constant voice of reason.
When you decide to spend an hour baking cookies instead of studying for your exam tomorrow, she’s there to keep you on track. When you’re about to go outside in a dress on a windy day, she’s there to remind you to put on spandex underneath. Whatever it is, she always has your best interest at heart.
At the end of the day, she's your best friend, your roommate, and your sister. Nothing could be better than living with her.
