When we were younger, all we wanted to do was grow up. We wanted to be mature and be old enough to do anything we could imagine without restrictions. Now that we’re older though, this whole being an adult thing isn’t as great as it seemed. Here are the top 11 reasons growing up isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
- You have to pay your own bills now, which means you have less money you can use to treat yo’ self.
- In general, you have more responsibilities and have to learn how to manage your time better.
- Getting a job is difficult because everyone wants you to have prior experience but you’d have to get a job first to get said experience.
- You have to grocery shop for yourself, and then cook your own meals.
- You have to go to the doctor's and dentist's alone, after making your own appointments.
- Everyone asks what your plans for the future are and you realize you should probably figure that out soon.
- You have to buy your own clothes, and do all of your own laundry.
- You have to worry about insurance and taxes, and you’re still pretty unclear how to even do your taxes.
- Everyone you know is getting engaged, married or starting a family and older members of your family are asking you when you're going to get married.
- You get to have a great time in college, but then you become incredibly stressed about how you’re going to pay for all of that education you needed to get the career you want.
- If you happen to complain about any of these reasons or something related to how difficult growing up is, someone older than you tells you “welcome to the real world.”
