The Real Reasons To Love How I Met Your Mother

"How I Met Your Mother" is the sitcom of all sitcoms. The show of all shows. The slapstick television series of all television series. If you are anything like me you've watched this hilarious TV show multiple times and still laugh out loud during every single episode. Eventually, after watching for awhile, you feel an emotional connection to the characters and realize that you've grown up with them. You were a part of their lives. You understood what they were going through. If you're like me they have taught you many life lessons worth learning.

1. You can't plan out your life.

"You can't just skip ahead to where you think your life should be." -Lily

2. Your friends will always be there for you no matter what.

"We spend so much effort trying to keep parts of our lives hidden, even from our closest friends, but in those rare times when we do open up, it's amazing how minor those secrets end up being." -Ted

3. There are rules to everything but sometimes it's okay to break them.

"Nothing good happens after 2:00 a.m.. when 2:00 a.m.rolls around, just go home and go to sleep." -Ted

4. It's not legendary if your friends aren't there to see it.

"Whatever you do in this life, it's not legendary unless your friends are there to see it." -Barney

5. Life is about the journey. Take chances.

"If you're not scared, you're not taking a chance. And if you're not taking a chance, then what the hell are you doing?" -Ted

6. Don't force things to happen if they aren't meant to.

"If you care about somebody, you should want them to be happy... even if you wind up being left out." -Ted

7. Live in the moment.


"My parents live in Ohio. I live in the moment." -Ted

8. Never settle for less than what you deserve.


"When you meet the right person, you know it. You can't stop thinking about them. They are your best friend, and your soulmate. You can't wait to spend the rest of your life with them. And no one else can compare." -Ted

9.Wait for it.

"Why not say goodbye to the bad things? Say goodbye to all of the times you felt lost, to all of the times it was a 'no' instead of a yes. To all the heartache..." -Lily

10.Never give up.

"There are a lot of little reasons why the big things in our lives happen." -Ted

and no matter what "You can't cling to the past, because no matter how tightly you hold on, it's already gone." -Ted
