Reasons To Love Fall

Pumpkin spice, flannels, and Halloween, oh my!

Reasons To Love Fall

Some people leave the summer season counting down the days until abc family airs The Grinch everyday and Christmas trees appear in every house on the block.

Me? I count down the days until the leaves start to change color, the air gets cooler, and the leather boots and vests break out of hibernation.

Why am I, and every other basic girl, obsessed with Fall you ask? Well let me lay it out for you.

1. The Weather.

No longer are my thighs sticking to desk chairs from walking to class, no longer am I sweating for a good 5 minutes profusely because my AC hasn't kicked in yet and no longer do I have to worry about pitting through light colored shirts.

2. The Clothes.

BOOTS, JEANS, SWEATERS, VESTS, SCARFS, BOOTS!!! Also, all the warm colors like the dark greens, maroons, browns, grays. Anyone can look good in fall clothes, and if you're like me? Your closet lives for the Fall season because in the summer you wear shorts and big a** t-shirts and in the winter you wear leggings/big socks/five sweatshirts/one coat/and Uggs all at the same time..

3. Pumpkin Errything

Being the basic white girl that I am, I thoroughly enjoy pumpkin spice latte's, pumpkin pie's, pumpkin scents, pumpkin patches, carving pumpkins, etc, etc.

4. Halloween

You know, that day where we all get to act like kids again, even if your costume is more sexy french maid and less cute eight year old Powder Puff Girl. We may spend way too much money on outfits we'll probably just stick in the back of the closet and never see again but the pictures and stories last all year and the candy is always discounted the next day.

5. Halloween pt. 2.

I couldn't just limit halloween to just one bullet point. Being that one of my favorite movies is Practical Magic, I had to include just the spookiness Halloween brings to the fall season. I don't know about y'all but I'm ready for the stories, the haunted houses, and the Halloweentown movie nights.

6. Football.

For most families in the U.S.A Fall means football. Football Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, and the rest of the week is just waiting and preparing your fantasy team for the next round. And if you don't enjoy football, trust me, try a good tailgate and you'll realize what all the hype is about.

See, Fall isn't just the time we spend waiting on Christmas. It's arguable the best season of the year, but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm just saying that if you don't enjoy a good pair of leather boots, the Halloween town movies, or college football we might not be able to be friends..

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
