When I was younger my friends and I used to say that we couldn't wait to leave Charlotte. We thought that it was boring and that it really did not have much to do. All we did was hang out at each others houses and wait until the next trip would come up. We could not wait to get to college, that was until college actually came. When everyone left for school was when we and more importantly I realized just how great of a place Charlotte is.
It took leaving for me to realize all the good things that Charlotte has. There is nothing I miss more when I am at school than the food in Charlotte. My friends and I will plan what we are doing while we are home around our meals that we want. Literally the first thing we talk about is what food that we want. Our favorite places to go are Yama, Cowfish and Bricktops. Sushi is always a go to, but Cowfish and Yama do it better than any other sushi place - setting Charlotte apart once again. Bricktops is another one of our favorite places and even though it is a chain there is something special about going to the one in Charlotte across from the mall.
Most people complain about the cold or the heat when seasons approach, but Charlotte has an amazing balance. Fall is beautiful and as the leaves fall and it turns into winter it never gets too cold that it isn't enjoyable. When it is winter it will snow for a couple days which is great not too much but still getting some snow. Summer is hot, I will be the first to admit but Charlotte is located in an amazing location. The mountains are only a couple of hours away and the beach is maybe three hours away max. So if you need to cool down during the summer you can go to either.
Charlotte has great food places, a pretty awesome mall and is all around a friendly place to visit. When my college friends come to visit they always want to come back immediately. Even though it isn't a huge city like New York or Atlanta there are still fun events to go and things that will randomly pop up. There is a golf tournament that will come once a year and Charlotte Fashion week. For our little city those events are the perfect source of entertainment. All in all, I couldn’t imagine growing up anywhere else and I’m so happy I got to chance to realize just how great of a place it is.
