Once you've completed your first year of college and you move on to sophomore year, you know so much more about your university, your teachers, your classmates, and yourself. There are a lot of realizations that many college sophomores have and they make for some great advice.
Getting involved is one of the most important things you can do. Putting yourself out there and getting out of your comfort zone is hard, but it can open so many doors. Joining clubs, doing community service, and going Greek, if it's offered, are all highly recommended to freshmen. Unfortunately, some students don't put themselves out there soon enough and end up regretting it. My advice is to get involved in anything and everything that you can, without overwhelming yourself.
Study. This can be hard for freshmen to do because college is such a big transition as it is. Doing your homework is rewarding and keeps your grades high, which can also open many doors. Plus, taking classes specific to your major is why we all come to college, so take advantage of the opportunities that you do have to learn and better your understanding of the world around you.
Eat healthy, stay fit. No one wants the freshman 15 and it's still possible to get it your sophomore year as well. Eat healthily when you can and work out when you have time. It makes you feel so much better about yourself, which is important.
One of the biggest realizations college sophomores have is how real it all is. Freshman year, everything is new and exciting and you may or may not have neglected your studies—but now? Even if you're dying to go out and have fun, you need to remember how much you're putting into your future by studying. I'm not saying don't have fun, I'm just saying don't forget why you came and don't forget how fast things fly by.
Being a college sophomore can be hard. Your classes get harder, all you want to do is hang out with your friends and studying is the last thing on your mind. Make the most of your sophomore year because it will be filled with a million memories that will last a lifetime.
