It all begins picking the perfect one, the one that speaks to you, the one that you see yourself enjoying the most, and honestly the one you know you’ll be happiest with. Purchasing a planner is a big decision and is a year long commitment that you cannot retract on. If you use your planner habitually like I do, then the following probably applies to you in some way, shape, or form!
1. Spend hours shopping for the perfect one between target and office max, only to turn to amazon so you can customize it.
2. Write everything down in it because if it isn't in the planner it will not get done.
3. Hate changing plans because that means you have to change it in your planner
4. Use a specific type of pen for certain events
5. Use a particular highlighter color for emphasis on importance
6. Document every second of how your day will be spent
7. Not deviate from what is in the planner to accomplish
8. Make a list of all of your lists so you don’t lose track of anything
9. Cringe when someone takes your planner knowing that they are going to write their birthday in it but in the WRONG color and more than likely in the wrong place.
10. Have it attached to you at all times because you just never know when you may get in the mood to plan
11. Shamelessly have the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment that occurs when you check something off or mark through a completed task of your day.
12. Plan for when you have to buy your next planner for the coming year so you don’t have to go a day without a timeline.
If any of these apply to you then you are not alone, because I am all too fixated with my planner as well! I think that having things planned out feels nice and honestly relieves my personal stress level. It’s comforting to know that I have time to accomplish everything I need to in the day! Enjoy your relationship with your planner and do not be ashamed, it’s a healthy relationship that only you can let yourself down in.
