Keeping up with the Halloween theme, lets talk about death, shall we? In some religions, the afterlife can only be reached spiritually. Other religions believe that there are places on earth that are portals to the underworld. Some of these spots aren't believed to be gates to hell anymore, but some people still believe there are some out there.
7 Gates of Hell
There are two versions to this legend, both of them regarding places in York County, Pennsylvania. One myth believes that an insane asylum burnt down, and gates were put up to keep the ones that escaped from the fire away from the town folk. The other version believes that a physician built gates along a path that leads to the forest. Supposedly, one gate can be seen during the day but the other six can only be seen at night time. It is believed that if someone goes through all seven gates, they will immediately go to hell.
Houska Castle

This old castle is located in the Czech Republic. The castle sits on a very odd place, making people question why it was built there to begin with. Before the castle was built, there was a huge hole that many called a "bottomless pit" because of how deep it was. Villagers would report black-winged creatures flying around the hole, and half animal half human beings crawling out from the hole. These events made people believe that this hole was a gate to hell, and they believed that the castle was built over it to keep the evil within the walls. Before the castle was constructed, people were too afraid to help build the castle. So, prisoners were hired on to build the castle in return for not being sentenced to death. This seemed like a good idea, until the first prisoner was lowered into the hole and began to scream uncontrollably. According to the legend, the prisoner was raised back up out of the hole and his hair had turned white and he looked many years older after spending a few seconds in the hole. Two days later he was admitted into a mental institution and died from unknown causes. The castle was later rumored to be the spot where Nazis would go to experiment travelling to different dimensions. Three Nazi bodies were found, and their deaths were unknown.
The Gates of Guinee

Only secret societies in New Orleans know about the actual location of this gate. Tour guides will avoid the topic, and if somebody asks they will skirt around the issue. In order to find these gates, one must be willing and open to talking with the dead. If you speak the name of the deceased five times, they will come to the gate and speak with you. If the gate opens, do not enter, for you will be trapped in the world of the dead forever.
Stull Cemetery
Located in Kansas, Stull cemetery is located in a small town. The town of Stull, Kansas has been linked to supernatural legends for hundreds of years. Supposedly, the devil will appear on the night of Spring Equinox and Halloween. Also, there are stories of the Pope avoiding the area while flying in a plane, he asked the pilot to fly around it because he believed that even the air above was filled with so much evil.
Lacus Curtius
Every year thousands of tourists visit this spot in Rome, Italy. Many visitors are unaware that the small stone well was once believed to be an entrance to the underworld. So many myths surround this hole, that the true origin of the story has been lost with time.
