Blogging is out and "vlogging" is in, and it's taking over! For those of you who might not know, vlogging is short for video blogging. Many traditional bloggers are ditching their writing to produce vlogs because it's a bit more personal than a blog. It gives you a real look into someone's life. It simply involves you, a camera, and your daily life.
Vlogging is the real "reality" television. There's no actors, no staged scenes, or any "lights, camera, action." It's simply pure moments from your life just... happening! It gives you the freedom to record anything you want about your life; from your family life, to an event you may attend, or just you chilling with your friends.
Although you may get caught up in vlogging your life away, you should be careful of what you record and post online. Refrain from posting any vlogs including others that may not want those moments shared. Be sure to clear with your friends and family to get their permission to film them; not everyone is open with making their private life public.
If you are all about being on the go, I recommend getting a smaller camera to use. You don't want to have to carry around a bulky camera all day. It can get tiring. Try the Samsung NX mini. It's more expensive with a price tag starting at $550, but if you're serious about starting a video blog then it would be worth it. If you're more of an inside vlogger then this camera can still work for you. The flip screen can rotate around for selfies or hands free recording.Video blogging is a good practice if you are a Mass Communication Major as well. It allows you to test your skills working with the camera and editing videos. Also, it's an opportunity to develop an on screen personality. Vlogging, like blogging, allows you to make a name yourself. Many famous people have gotten their start from video blogging and building a fan base for themselves.
