With November finally here, it is officially the holiday season and I don't know about you, but there are so many amazing things that happen during this time of year. From sweets to candles and lights to family, there is just something so special about this time of year.

When the holidays come around, I can't help but be happy. Also, I am not that person who starts playing Christmas music right after Halloween, so don't worry you don't have to get rid of me. But I do love everything at this time of year, it is absolutely my favorite. Fall slowly rolls in and it gets colder. I get to break out all my warm, cozy sweaters and my candles. Don't even get me started... there is something so out of this world about the scents of holiday candles. It's really bad, especially when Bath and Body Works has a sale on their candles. Boy, am I a sucker for those. Just some personal favorites and great classics include Harvest Gathering, Winter and my personal favorite Sweater Weather.

The holidays are great because it gives you even more of a reason to spend time with your family and loved ones. If you aren't close with your family, it gives you the opportunity to spend time with the people you love and care about. I mean, you can always spend time with them, but you can do it even more during the holiday season. Also, family time means great food. From a Thanksgiving turkey to a Christmas ham, the holiday season always brings around delicious real food. Which for a lot of college students is a wonderful and well-needed break from campus food.

This time of year also constitutes for some wonderful decorations. There are so many cute and beautiful Fall/Thanksgiving decorations that you can put up and make your house the most fall-esque on the block. Then when Christmas rolls around, I am all about those decorations. I mean there is nothing more fun and family friendly than being able to go and look at Christmas lights with your family. It always creates some special holiday memories that will last a lifetime.

Whether you love Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year, there are so many different activities and moments spent together with loved ones. Plus one of my favorite things about the holiday season is being able to give to those around me that I care about. Either an actual present or my time, I always love to be able to give in whatever way I can.

Another great thing about this time of year is the drinks and sweets. There is nothing better than grabbing a nice hot cup of peppermint hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and a good book and sitting down by the fireplace to enjoy a nice relaxed moment. And to top it all off some freshly baked holiday cookies, it can't get better than that. So as we go into this holiday season and 2018 comes to a close, remember to take time for the little things and don't try to rush through the holidays.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
