As a species, humans are attracted to the energies of others. During every walk of life, we enjoy making connections and having common characteristics with other individuals. These connections can be as simple as liking the same food or as complex as being intrigued by the same scientific study. There is something else that impacts the creation of connections, and that is knowledge.
Knowledge can be gained through a number of mediums, as you, reader, are probably aware of.
Besides the standard desk and classroom style of learning, and the spoon feed information we get from our parents and caretakers, knowledge can come from experience.
Experience. Now, that's a word that has many meanings. In this context, we humans gain knowledge through life lessons and learning. Our knowledge is gained through climbing too high on the jungle gym after a parent/caretaker told us not to, and ultimately succumbing to our poor balance and falling. Our knowledge is gained through befriending a person maybe we should not have befriended, or through taking a class we thought we were going to hate, but ending up being incredibly impacted by.
There is another way to gain knowledge as well.
Here's a hint: it involves two covers, pages, and your imagination.
If you are in some way questioning this, just take a minute to reflect: while reading may seem old-fashioned this day and age, it has the ability to take you to many different places, even if you are curled up with your favorite coffee in your favorite chair.
Reading not only imparts knowledge, it imparts seeds of wisdom. Seeds, which, after being buried in our brains and being watered by our thoughts, can help us discover new ideas.
The new ideas that reading presents to our brains cause us to create something tangible to further them. This "something" is a result of and a cause of reading and can be a piece of writing. Through the knowledge we have gained from reading, we can then create a work that has the potential to teach and inspire others to absorb new information that could open their minds to the possibilities that exist. Through this process of taking in and giving enlightenment, connections, both within the walls of our brains, and with other people, can be made.
It is as though a cycle is present. As stated earlier, the creation of connections is formed through knowledge. First, this knowledge is gained through reading, reading on as many topics as possible. Then, this knowledge is transformed into a concrete act, created by the soul who was inspired by the reading, into a piece of writing.
Finally, through passion born from reading and turned into writing, a person can pinpoint another soul who finds fulfillment in writing as well, forming a connection that has the potential to be long-lasting. Reading links to writing and writing helps link to the creation of energies that form connections between human beings.
Together we read, together we write, together we connect.
