Reactions To Texting People Back, From Someone Who Never Texts Back

Yes I saw your text, no I won't reply, and yes I'll still retweet stuff on Twitter.

I am that friend that never texts back. It's something I have to establish when I meet new people and something I have had to explain countless times to people who think I don't care about them. I actually do, I am just horrible at texting back. I might take a while, but you'll always hear from me (maybe). These are my reactions when I have to text people back.

1. Texting My Best Friends

To my best friends, thank you. Thank you for having put up with my slow replies for years, for checking up on me randomly, and especially for tagging me in memes daily. I appreciate you guys still calling me when you need advice or need to vent and for letting me do the same. I also love being included in group chats when y'all know I might not say a word.

No matter how long it has been since we last talked or saw each other, when we reunite it's like it was just yesterday that we were catching up.

2. New Friends

It might look like we are going to talk every day but that definitely won't be the case. Soon enough we'll just text each other to grab lunch then part our ways and repeat the cycle. And no I probably won't reply to your text but I'll still continue to retweet stuff on Twitter.

3. Any type of group chat

More than likely, I'll find my way out as soon as I've been added to the chat.

4. My Parents

I am completely convinced that not texting back is hereditary. The chances of my parents picking up or texting me back is 40%. The best way for me to get in contact with them is to drive back home.

5. My Sister

The most frustrating person to even try to get in touch with. Yes I know you're busy but what's more important than talking to me, Carroll?

To sum it up, I am still waiting for her to FaceTime me and it's been a week. We might text a little from now and then, but being the oldest, I should be the only one allowed to take forever to reply. Again, I believe it's hereditary.

6. Classmates

All-time favorite: short, simple and get right to the point.

7. Any housing related texts

No more hot water again? Great!

8. When It's Someone I Like

No hesitation. Although sometimes you have to give it a few hours so the fact that you have been waiting all day for their text is never known. Being someone that likes to self-sabotage at times, I'll even give it a few days sometimes.

9. Co-Workers

The most passive-aggressive texts ever.

10. Someone who texts just as slow as you

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
