Being blunt doesn't mean I'm a bitch, even though some people might think I am. Shoutout to all my friends who appreciate my bluntness and don't think any less of me because of it. I speak up for what I believe in, and speak out against what I don't. I go after what I want, and if someone doesn't like how out-spoken I am then they're not a friend for me.
The thing that I've never understood, is why people don't like having a blunt friend. Friends are supposed to be honest and help build a better you. How can you do that if your friends are lying to you? Telling you they like your new hair, your outfit, your boyfriend, you life choices, when they really think you're making horrible mistakes.
There's a fine line between being blunt, and being rude. Many people don't know the difference. I'm sorry if what I say offends you, but would you rather I lied to you to make you happy when I really do think you that shirt isn't flattering?
A lot of people don't like to be involved in confronting others, or they don't want to seem like the "bad guy". But at the same time, you'd want your friends to be truthful with you, so why not be truthful to them. If the people in your life don't want to be your friend after you are sometimes hurtfully honest with them, they don't deserve your friendship anyways.
Coming from a blunt girl, here are some signs that you're a truly-awesome blunt friend:
1) You always have an opinion to share, and you don't mind sharing it.
2) You don't really mind if other people don't like your opinion, after all, you're just being honest.
3) Your friends turn to you when they need someone to do some confrontation.
4) You're capable of admitting you're wrong, even if you aren't happy about it.
5) You don't see the point in ignoring an issue when it could easily be resolved.
6) You want to be honest with your friends, and hope in return they'd be honest with you.
For all the blunt people out there in the world, keep doing your thing, telling your honest opinion, supporting what you believe in, and never letting anybody get you down.
