Open letter addressed to Milo Stewart, a YouTuber who's thoughts on everything LGBT+ cause me rage

Rant About A Ranter

Dear Milo,

As a member of the LGBT+ community, I find your videos disheartening. I have spent a few hours watching and rewatching your material until I could stand it no more. After watching most of your videos and thinking very hard about your stance on many topics, I have only a few things to say.

First: to degrade the help of an ally and dismiss their attempts to help is abhorrent. You stated that if a cisgendered person offered their support to you by informing you that they are not transphobic, you would be offended? Why? Because you believe that they are ignorant? How ironic. Denying support from someone kind enough to reach into a community they are not in is odd and unsettling. Trans men and women want cis people to respect them and help make the world safer...why don’t you? They do not think they know everything about being transgendered or even think they are perfect as you stated in your video, “How to be an Ally to Trans People.” Allies want to help and support, and to turn that away and advise other trans individuals to do the same is silly and unhelpful to the cause.

Second: you fume over people mis-gendering you, yet you post videos titled, “How To Be a Gender Confusion,” and pride yourself on your non-passing, androgynous appearance. To non- LGBT+ members, this gives the whole community a bad name. It is fine to be a non-passing, non-binary transmale, but keep in mind that strangers don't know that you are trans, and due to your real effort to actually confuse people on your gender, how could you think that it is OK to be angry when people are actually confused about what gender you identify as. That is not only discouraging to potential allies, but also very immature to become angry over mis-gendering when you seem to want that when you post videos…

Third: The Pride Parade is known quite well for its sexually explicit content. This is the celebration of sexual liberation and freedom for those who have been oppressed. I understand you are asexual and aromantic and PDA might cause severe discomfort for you, but this celebration is not to honor the plight asexual people and aromantic people have gone through since there are no acts of violence/hate crimes committed against Ase and Aro individuals. Since you also identify with queer genders, enjoy that section of the parade and mingle with other people who also share a similar story. It is extremely disrespectful to imply that the celebration should stop due to you being “uncomfortable,” the community needs to stick together and represent each other well, and for someone like yourself to be so involved in LGBT+ and not support allies or Pride is as confusing as your own representation of your gender.

If you ever see this Milo, I am not being malicious. I want to point out the flaws in your logic and arguments so you can rep the way you should and possibly have an easier time on your channel. I want to remind the allies and the non-community members that just because a few people might hold quite controversial views does not mean the whole community shares them -- start or continue to support the rights for all LGBT+ individuals.

A mad member.

P.S. If you have no clue who this person is and why they got me so amped up, here is his channel!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
