Adrift Movie

In This Article:

This summer, I have found myself to be in a cycle. I go to my internship three days a week and work for a mere fifteen hours and then It seems like almost every evening I find myself at the movie theatre. It really isn't even night, but It sure is most nights. Because of this, I've already seen my fair share of summer flicks already (and there's still a lot coming out), some of which were great, and some of which were not so great- so, here is my definitive list, ranked from best to worst.

1. Solo.

This one was SO great. Definitely numero uno on the list thus far. Chronologically, It is the first Star Wars movie, so even for people that have not had the honor of seeing a Star Wars film before, this is a great one to get you started. You don't have to have any background knowledge of the Star Wars universe to fully enjoy the storyline of this movie.

2. Adrift.

I just saw this one tonight, and let me tell you that It almost beat out Solo for the number one slot. Going into this one, I didn't know what to expect. It seemed, from the trailers, that It might be corny and over exaggerated. What I didn't realize from the trailers, however, was that the storyline of the movie was based on a real event. Looking up the real story after I got out of the theatre made the movie so much more interesting and I for sure want to go see It again, knowing what I know now because there is a HUGE plot twist!

3. Ocean's 8.

This was such a fun movie to watch. The girl power was all there and I loved every second of It. Its all about stealing a necklace from someone attending the Met Gala (no, that's not a spoiler), so It is full of jewels and beautiful outfits. Each scene provided a new outfit I want in my closet, a new beautiful diamond necklace, and a new twist, as these ladies try and lift the worlds most expensive necklace.

4. Book Club.

This movie was just flat out hilarious. I was in a packed theatre with a slightly older crowd and at points, the whole room would burst into a fit of laughter. It made It so funny that everyone in the audience seemed to be enjoying It as much as I was. This isn't the kind of movie I would go to for some deep thoughts, but It was fun and I still highly recommend It if you're looking for a laugh.

5. Infinity War.

Okay, I might get some hate for how low own this one is on the list (sorry, Marvel fans) but this one had a lot of things that went over my head. Thankfully my boyfriend is a bit of a Marvel nerd, so when I had questions about a character or plot point, I could whisper to him and he always had an answer. I think if I had seen ALL of the movies before this one, I would have loved It, but I haven't, so It falls to number 5.

6. Life of the Party.

Again, this is just another funny movie. There were a lot of good lines that made me, and my group of friends, laugh out loud. Other than that though, the plot line was lacking. After we walked out of the theatre, my friends and I all commented that we thought the film was funny, but we were confused about a significant number of plot lines that the movie did not wrap up. This is a good movie to put on in the background and laugh at occasionally, but It is at the bottom of my list!

All this goes to say, that without my MoviePass, this summer would look a little bit like a bust. Don't worry y'all, It might seem like I've seen all the movies that there are to see, and as of tonight i have, but thankfully the movie industry has my back. I can't wait for Incredibles 2, Tag and maybe even Jurassic World. Who knows what flicks this summer will bring me! Cheers, MoviePass!
