The Second Free Write

Honestly, here's what's on my mind.

The Second Free Write

This summer has been rather busy. All I have been doing is working and working. I'm not complaining though. Being busy is actually great. It makes the days I'm not working that much better. That's why this summer has been one of the best so far. Of course, working has it's downsides.

There really isn't much time to enjoy a personal life. Every day has been work, exercise, eat, sleep, and repeat. Though, I'm fortunate to work in a place where it brings the two together. I've gotten to know a lot of intelligent and bright individuals that I hope will become long-lasting relationships. That's another thing about working. Like a professor teaching a class, the company's culture can make or break your experience. You can have your dream job, but if the environment around you isn't as great as your job, then work can be difficult. On the contrary, you may not like your job, but if there are good people around you, then it makes the job a lot easier. Fortunately, I got a good internship and good people.

Outside of work, I honestly haven't been pursuing any new interests. Rather, I have been trying to preserve and strengthen my interests and friendships. Thank God, I'm close to home with a great family. They come to pick up from the city and take me home. I've been able to spend a lot of time with my family and meet up some good friends. I've been trying to play golf as usual and compete again. Playing in the tournament has always been a great inspiration for my learning and growth as an individual.

As for the world around me, there's never a dull moment. Trump's always on the news with something, and most of it isn't good. I can't decide on whether or not bad news is a good thing. It doesn't help Trump, but for the people, it's another story. We're well into his presidency. Regardless of political beliefs, one thing is for certain. The world needs to learn how to grow without leadership. Some leaders are just not trustworthy these days, yet power is still with them. In order to grow without leaders, one has to be adaptable. How does one live by ignoring their leader?

Obviously, doing so is more difficult for some just because of factors out of their control. That's one idea I believe some people will never understand. There are simply things outside of our control, and everyone wishes that they can control what cannot be controlled. People who have been able to do so are given a great power. Like all powers, free will determines how that power is used. For themselves? For others? It all depends on the person and their personality.

The future is one big question mark. There are reasons to be hopeful for it, but there are reasons to not be hopeful. The future is technically now. We're always living in the present, and there will always be a future. What's in the present determines the next present. Only time will tell as life goes on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
