I'll never forget the moment I found out I was getting a new roommate. Well, when I say "found out", I mean, I walked into my apartment and thought someone had broken in (even though all of my stuff was still there). Yup, I had no warning, but turns out my random second-semester roommate was the biggest blessing I hadn't really asked for. I was getting pretty lonely, as I had spent a few weeks on my own.
Well, a couple months later, here I am to thank one of my greatest friends for giving me a chance and for being the best roommate a girl could ask for.
Dear Random Roommate (turned BFF),
I remember how excited I was to learn everything about you. We would spend so many nights staying up late and talking about anything and everything.
To this day, you still laugh at all my jokes- no matter how bad they are, you always listen to me whenever I need you, and you would do anything to brighten up my day.
My roommate posted this photo on Facebook to brighten my day.
You were the first person in my life to accept my perspective on any and every issue and not try to change me. You met me where I was, and for that, I am thankful.
In the short amount of time we have known each other, you have taught me so much. You have shown me what it means to be a good roommate and friend. You have been so kind, understanding, and loving towards me since the very beginning.
You had every right to keep to yourself, ignore me, choose not to befriend me, but you did the complete opposite... I am so glad that you did. I can't imagine my life without you. You're truly a blessing to me. I'm so lucky to have someone like you in my life. You are strong-willed, determined, independent and compassionate. You give to others and expect nothing in return. You are an amazing woman and I truly look up to you.
Thank you for listening to me rant and vent about anything and everything. Thank you for threatening every guy I fall for... and then for wiping my tears when I am heartbroken. You never fail to remind me how beautiful and worthy I am. In your eyes, nobody is ever good enough for me- and I love that you care about me and watch out for me as much as you do. Thank you for giving me honest, real, and trustworthy advice... even if I don't want to hear it or if it makes me upset. Thank you for painting my toes and for sitting at the hospital with my family for over two hours while I had surgery. Thank you for tucking me in when I'm sick, rubbing my back when I'm in a stress-induced panic attack, taking me (more like forcing me sometimes) to the doctor's when I need to go and for understanding when I am just stressed out and need some Sonic. You're truly amazing for putting up with me- all of me.Thank you for being a friend, even if it felt like I had nobody else- you've been there for me when I needed you most.
Love always,
not just your roomie, but best friend.
