Getting a new job is always an adjustment, but what if it's somewhere awesome, like a radio station? Two of Furman Odyssey's Creators are working at radio stations in Myrtle Beach and Atlanta this summer. Let's check in with how they're doing!

Day 1

Bri

I work with iHeartRadio, so there's a group of five radio stations in the one building. It's really exciting to see all the different stations, but when something happens, like the power outage that took out all five stations first thing Monday morning, it can get a little crazy. The rest of the day, I got to go out on a sales call, so I got to see the business side of radio. I also found out that there's a signed picture of my love on the wall. So there's that.

Sophie

I work with Q100, Atlanta's most popular Top 40 Station. My internship is with the Adam Bomb Show, which means I am part of the "Bomb Squad." To my pleasant surprise, my interview turned out to be my first day on the job. I walked in the building prepared to answer difficult questions about myself, but instead Adam mixed me in with the rest of the Bomb Squad to record a podcast. The rest of the day was full of recording vlogs and admiring the decor around the studio, like this Kanye cardboard cutout.

Day 2

Bri

I created the visuals for our Myrtle Beach Bike Week feature page and the Folds of Honor features page. It's nice to get to work more with Photoshop and get to know how to work better with it. I also get to hang out with the guys from Gator's morning show each morning, which is definitely the funniest part of my day.

Sophie

My meme-obsessed self and Photoshop skills came in handy.

But that wasn't close to the most exciting thing that happened at the station. About halfway through my shift, we began prepping for a Meet & Greet and Q&A session on Wednesday with THE Liam Payne. We came up with a Twitter contest (#Q100Liam) for listeners to enter. Let's just say I had more Twitter notifications that day than I had in a long time.

Day 3

Bri

My day certainly wasn't as interesting as Sophie's, but it was still a great day. The country radio station that I work with is the official sponsor for the Carolina Country Music Fest, a four-day music festival in Myrtle Beach with tons of acts, including people like Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, and many, many more. With the country station, we are giving away at least three sets of wristbands every day in May. On Wednesday, they delivered bags of wristbands for us to give away to listeners for the concert, prompting a Facebook Live video to show everyone the bags of wristbands.

Sophie

My 15-year-old self never thought I would meet Liam Payne, so my day was pretty hype. And busy. Very, very busy. First, we collected posters from the listeners who won the contest to hang on the walls. We saw everything from puns on One Direction lyrics to a poster covered in wrapping paper to a laminated Photoshop edit of Liam bald. The Q&A with Liam was first. He answered some questions both from Adam and from listeners as admired the service dog in the front row. Adam put me in charge of photographing the Q&A, so enjoy my favorite photo from the day.

After the Q&A session and the listeners' Meet & Greet, we took staff pictures. No, this isn't a cardboard cutout like Kanye.

Day 4

Bri

My boss suggested doing a video for each of the stations including stuff on their DJs, some of the contests they run on the stations, and all the cool stuff they get to do. Que "The Office" theme song playing in my head. My friends also find it very entertaining when I'm mentioned on the radio.

Sophie

Interns at Q100 only work two days a week in the office, so I won't be back until next Monday. But I'm sure whatever happened in the office on Thursday wasn't as hype as the day before.

Day 5

Bri

I'm sure Sophie will agree, but Fridays at the radio stations are CRAZY. Between recording tracks for the next week, making sure everything is set for the weekend, and people coming to pick up the prizes they've gotten throughout the week, things can get kind of crazy. With some other snafus, it kept everyone on their toes, until lunch. A delicious pizza was just what the doctor ordered to kick off the weekend before going back to do it all again on Monday. And we had a listening party for the new Harry Styles album, so it was jammin all day.

Sophie

Harry Styles' new album dropped after our long office countdown. That is all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
