When Race Has Nothing To Do With Being Treated Like A Human Being

Racism should be talked about with respect to everyone, not everyone except whites.

When Race Has Nothing To Do With Being Treated Like A Human Being

Okay guys, I'm going to get serious with you right now--I know I mostly write lighthearted things: notes, short stories and poems most of the time, but when I get serious--I get serious and right now, that is precisely what I am. This is a topic that I feel needs to be discussed and acknowledged because I've dealt with this my entire life and have always felt bad if I ever voiced or even thought I was treated wrong because others would make me feel awful about it. But no more. No one should ever feel bad because they are treated wrong and people just think it's acceptable.

Here we go, guys. Whenever you use "white privilege" to describe something about people--you're being racist against whites. It's not a matter of being treated specially. We are judged and belittled and hated because of our race just as much as any other race. I HATE that race even has to be a topic in this day and age because it really shouldn't be, but if we're going to talk about racism how about we discuss the fact that people can call whites crackers and make jokes about "white privilege" TO OUR FACES and not be called racist when if we turned it around and said similar things about another race we would be called racist? There's a double standard here just like there is in most things and I really feel like if you're gonna call racism, then you have to call it all the way across the board--

Racism against Asians

Racism against Middle Easterners

Racism against Italians

Racism against Mexicans

Racism against Hispanics

Racism against Blacks

Racism against every single culture and race ever

And yes, racism against Whites.

Stop trying to shame one culture/race and blame them for everything.

Whites have racism thrust in their faces by others every day and don't you dare think we don't know how it feels. We do.

Every time someone assumes we're rich--that is racism.

Every time someone assumes we have a nice car--racism.

Every time someone assumes we can do whatever we want and not get in trouble--racism.

Every time anyone assumes anything about whites (much like assuming things about other cultures and races)--racism.

We aren't even allowed to speak up about it because "we're white and we're privileged and we're special." We can't say anything about it because people will get in our faces and accuse us of expecting special treatment when all ANY human being wants is to be treated like just that.

A. Human. Being.

We don't want to be treated any particular way based on the color of our skin. We are people. We want to be treated normally and kindly JUST as badly as any other culture or race wants to be treated.

Racism against whites is a real thing and I know that there will be people trying to fight me on this, but I promise you it exists. And I really have no intention of arguing, I just wanted to get this out there because it should be talked about at some point and to some extent.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
