Life is a series of battles that we need to overcome in order to find our way. A lot of these battles come when we are 20-something years old and it can take a lot of energy out of us and make us want to give up. Here are a few quotes that I have stumbled upon that have helped me through a lot of the challenges that have come my way.
“The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone is the moment to absolutely and utterly walk away.”—Alysia Harris
This quote holds true for any and every relationship in your life. It may be a friendship, a romantic relationship or a family relationship, the meaning still remains the same. The people who matter will never make you question yourself and what you stand for. If they do, walk away.
"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”—Maya Angelou
Things take time. That might be with your looks, with your career or even with your relationships. Everything takes time to grow and develop. Often times we only see the final product of those things around us and it makes us forget that there was a lot of changes in order for it to get that way, and it wasn't always pretty.
"When I was in my 20s, it felt like I was riding wild horses, and I was hoping I didn’t go over a cliff."—Chaka Khan
It is an endless cycle of struggles and hardships. Being 20-something is a constant battle of trying to hold everything together. Major things happen during this span of 10 years, and no one's journey is the same. Hang in there.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new.”—Socrates
The hardest thing to let go of is your past. It can eat you alive and completely drown you at night. Stop fighting it, and let it go. You may never accept it, but in order to move forward, you need to focus your energy in the future.
“It’s better to have nobody than someone who is half there, or who doesn’t want to be there."—Angelina Jolie
Don't waste all of your energy on people who don't give you all of theirs. Successful relationships take 100 percent from both people and when one side is lacking, it gets off balanced. Don't waste your time on people who are not fully committed.
Each quote can mean something totally different for each of us but the messages still all hold true. Do what is best for you and you will always find your way.
