People come and go in our lives but the best friends are the ones who are always there for you. We meet a lot of people throughout our lifetime and that can mean you run across some unique people and some of the most basic people.
But the ones you want to stick around all pertain similar qualities that are beneficial to you and their life. Here are 10 qualities that contribute to that everlasting friendship:
1. Genuine
First and most important is the quality of a friendship. A person who actually cares about your well being and wants the best for you. This is the friend that asks “How are you?” and actually cares to hear your answer and wants to help if you need someone to talk to.
2. Honest
This does not mean the same thing as being mean. Some people say “I’m just being honest.” NO! Discouraging your friend or pointing out their insecurities in an outfit they feel good in is not honest, it is just mean. If your friend feels good about themselves and confident, let them.
3. Comfortable
You need that friend that will accept every part of you and love you for it. If you are a little weird they probably already know but a friend will embrace it with you. If not with you, they will let you do your thing and not judge you for it. Be comfortable being who you are and not having to worry about acting a certain way is definitely important in any relationship.
4. Fun
Every friend you have can be a fun friend. But this fun is the type you do not have to plan for. You do not need to make plans in order to make sure you have a good time. You and your friend can make it a good time just by being together. You do not need anyone or anything, in particular, to make it a good time because each other’s company is enough.
5. Family
Friends that are family. These are the friends that can be considered blood relatives even if they are completely different from your family. Their presence in your life is just as good as a home as the one you live in with your family. Your friend knows your family, they know your complete background and just walk inside your house like it is their own.
6. Trustworthy
Not only can you go to your friend for advice but you also trust they will not say anything to anyone else. You can tell them your most shameful moments and it is strictly between the two of you.
7. Semiserious
This is a friend who is fun and you have a good time with but also prioritize their responsibilities. A friend that will go out with you on a Friday night but make sure you get up for that 7A.M work shift Saturday morning. There is always time for fun but when we have responsibilities such as work and school that good friend should encourage you to get done what is most important first.
8. Humorous
A sense of humor. How can you make jokes and have a good time with someone who does not have a good sense of humor? Your friend needs to understand your sense of humor if they do not already have the same one.
9. Supportive
If you have a friend who wants to try something new or make a change in their life SUPPORT them! Do not discourage them. There are so many times where I have heard people discourage their friends from making a change in their life because they are afraid of what is going to happen to them. Life is full of surprises and you cannot control what will happen but you can be there for your friend every step of the way and support them! If Kayleigh wants to move to California to start her acting career then let her. You'll have somewhere to stay if you ever want to fly to Cali for a week! YGG.
10. POSITIVITY
Life is too short for negativity in your life. Get that friend that helps boost your confidence, makes life look more beautiful, encourages you to be better. Look on the bright side of things when life throws you a curveball. Be that person fro your friends. Be happy!
