Have you ever just walked barefoot in the sand and enjoyed the texture of the grains underneath your feet? Now picture yourself walking in the sand having a conversation with Jesus, what are you talking about? We all have some idea of what we would say in a conversation with our brother if we were given a chance to walk in the sand next to him.
One day Colby and Dianna were walking on the sand together and while walking along the sand-line they had an idea to get out their bibles and started to talk about it and they pictured themselves walking together with Jesus walking down the middle. After walking down the coast together they decided to take a seat in the sand, bury their feet and just think about the idea of Jesus walking down the middle with them. At the end of the day Colby and Dianna went home and started looking up some scriptures that came to their minds while walking in the sand. The next day they met back up and brought along Trey and Sierra for a bible study in the sand; and all together they decided to bury their feet and talk about scripture along with what they thought about walking next to Jesus. Together they all talked openly about what the four of them would say if given the opportunity to just walk in the sand, and have a conversation with Jesus about their lives and the paths in which they have chosen to walk during their journey.
Genesis 41:49 (TNIV) Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea: it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.
Fast Forward a few months later and Trey, Sierra, Colby and Dianna were back walking barefoot in the sand discussing various scriptures and how their lives have been completely changed within the few months that they were not together; however their lives have been affected in some way that really struck a moment on their hearts and together the four of them went into prayer and scripture with their hearts and as nightfall came they decided to camp out together at the beach. During the night each one of them wrote up a script of how they would picture having a conversation with Jesus would go while walking barefoot in the sand standing right next to him.
Throughout the night the group decided to sing praises to God around the campfire and go over their scripts to each other followed by a short lesson by both Trey and Colby. Trey decided to go first: "Dear Jesus just how many grains of sand are on this sandy beach, then will you explain it to me how you can take a small grain of sand making it unique but when you put it together we are all the same?
Then Dianne was next: "Dear Jesus I know that I have struggled and I know that you are with me through the obstacles that I face, but I am trying to learn more about you and who you are. Please be with me as studying the bible is new to me and by showing me friends who will study with me to help me learn more and show me the way.
Colby was next and his response was heartfelt and you could tell he put thought into it. "Dear Jesus walking with you has helped me to see the true meaning of friendship and what it is meant to be. I want you to know that though I fall, that you are there helping me back up with your hand reached out. Studying your word has taught me various lessons and one of them is patience and others is the value that I have now realized that you are always walking with me and thank you for being that helping hand along this difficult path to the finish line and help me to continue to grow in you and teach others about who you are and what it truly means to grow in faith,
Lastly, Dianne read her script covered in tears and she broke down and just said "Jesus I am at a breaking point and through my tears and prayers I asking that you will see that I am trying and knowing that you are by my side I will not give up. This last year has been really hard on me and I am thankful for getting this chance to walk with you in the sand and having you reassure me that it will be okay.
After everybody read their scripts they sang a couple more songs and Colby did the first lesson over patience and Trey did the second lesson over a helping hand. That night turned into a night the four friends would never forget. The next day all four of them woke up to walk along the sand and in the middle they saw an image of a heart that was placed there to remind them that as you walk through this sand that Jesus is listening and walking right beside you and though you may not see him, He does care. Walking with your feet in the sand to have a conversation with Jesus that can change your life completely gave you friendship, hope, faith and patience and though you walked in the sand with friends you had your feet in the sand but your heart in God's word.
The next time you feel like you are having a tough time: think of walking in the sand next to Jesus and just having a conversation with him like the big brother that he truly is who loves his family. A-men.
