It's Okay To Pursue Something You're Passionate About, Even If It's In The Arts

It's Okay To Pursue Something You're Passionate About, Even If It's In The Arts

When you tell people that you are pursuing a career in an industry that has "no use" in society and they tell you to pursue something that is useful shows that we aren't a society of risks. If everyone pursued a medical degree, there wouldn't be any jobs to take. I'm not judging those who want to pursue a medical degree or any useful trade, it's just not my route. My favorite quote when doubting myself and my craft is, "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." This is why there needs to be a balance because the arts can help with the stress of medical and trade jobs. Stress is a killer when it comes to our bodies. That's why we need art. Don't judge people who pursue the arts too harshly because they can be the next source of healing to your soul.

People take inspiration from others, but it takes a creative person to make something new. I have a friend that performs beautifully ( pictured below), but also helps others pursue their dreams. Its okay to have more than one passion because you can have those passions build on each other. Art will also create a relaxing vibe because it can take us away from reality. In the olden days, The Royals used to have players (actors) come and entertain them at the end of the day. It was a source of relaxation and still is. The art industry is an expensive industry but not as lucrative as the practical industries. What makes it worth it is the happiness and general acceptance in the industry for those who don't fit the norm.

A person who has known rejection and loss in the industry is Al Mauro. He set up a company to help those in the industry break out in their careers. The company, Scarlett Monet is a company that was formed when he saw a need to help others achieve their dreams. Al started performing by himself because he wanted to make it to the top but soon discovered his need to help others achieve that same dream. His company became his baby. His late mother pushed him to pursue his dreams, so he named the company after her. We need more people like his mother because if the arts are lost then we would live in a black and white world. Black and white are good for a while but we will always need color.

Companies like Scarlett Monet are companies that are needed because of the present political climate. The arts are becoming less and less important and that isn't okay. Upcoming artists can heed the advice of those with a lot of experience. We should all pursue our passions because we are evolving past the traditional view on useful trades and medical degrees. I wish people wouldn't give up on their dreams so quickly. We may struggle a little more, but it's so worth it in the end.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
