In Provincetown every year they have a LGBTQ+ Pride Parade to celebrate the love for the community. It’s wonderful because theirs no hate allowed, only love, support and fun times, each year they have different themes, this year being 80s. It is a time for everyone to come together and be happy, to let go to just have fun. With everyone just being their happy true selves it is definitely a parade to go to no matter your orientation or age. The parade is kid friendly and always has something for everyone to be excited or happy about. It’s a time to come together to enjoy the theme and music.
It is truly a experience to go to with everyone in the parade dressing up in the theme, which this year was the 80s. With such a great theme everyone in the parade was dressed up in different things such as rubix cubes, smurfs, Michael Jackson and Boy George. With decked out floats from people just standing on them waving to full out glam with fake bomb boxes, music and throwing candy and beads. It is truly a great time with people also just walking in the parade in drag with their makeup done and high heels some handing out flyers to advertise their business. It is really fun because they also interact with the crowd and will stop so you can take pictures of them or even with them.
With the parade being between 1-2hrs it is a sight to see since most who come to the parade to watch also dress up in costumes. With the parade it is also pet friendly, but it is recommended to bring water for you and your pets if bring them, no one wants to see anyone get dehydrated. The parade starts at 3pm every year, next year 2017 it is Gods & Goddesses, the parade is typically August 18 or the third week of August on a Thursday but if you can’t make it to the parade all week they do different things since its a week long event to celebrate pride.
But if you're really not into celebrating pride don't worry theirs plenty to do such as go shopping on the main drag, go whale watching, go to a bar, go to eat at a restaurant for any meal or even see a comedy show. It’s always a fun time in Provincetown, I promise you won’t be disappointed in anything you do. It’s a place you can just let go, be free and be yourself. Their is no judgements and just a place to have fun and be silly with friends and family.
