Megacon 2016 at Orlando, Florida, included a lot of celebrities like Stan Lee from Marvel, Hayley Atwell from Agent Carter, Christopher Lloyd from Back To The Future, Tom Felton from Harry Potter, and Ralph Macchio from The Karate Kid. The convention ran from Thursday, May 26th, through Sunday, May 29th. I went on Saturday, the 28th, which is the day where everyone decides to go. Hence, the reason why it's the most expensive day to buy a ticket. Though, I think all the ticket prices were too high this year for Megacon since I'm hearing that it's not the best convention to go to either, which in my opinion, can go both ways.
One of the issues with Megacon is the fact that it was so expensive. Another problem was the lines, which, no joke, are expected to be long at any convention. However, the system was a little disorganized, I think is the least I should say, and the wait time was way too long. I went with two of my other friends, and we all got separated into different lines because we had different ways of buying the entry tickets for Megacon. I bought the $50, plus tax, ticket online and had to wait in a line to get the print-out paper receipt scanned and the wristband that went along with it. I was there at 7:45 in the morning and had to wait till 8:30 am for those things before I could start.
Thinking that that was the only line I had to wait, there was an even bigger line at the entrance to the Dealer's room, so I decided to wait till one of my friends was done to prevent from being separated for another hour again. They squeezed all of us into a room to make a zigzag line that didn't move till an hour and a half later. Megacon was supposed to start at 9 in the morning and we had to wait till 9:30 a.m. before they started letting people in. We were so happy to finally enter at around 10 a.m.
I also didn't find any of the panels to be as interesting as I hoped they would be and neither did my friends. I was interested in seeing some of the celebrities that were there but the lines were so long and some of them were not at their post because they were probably busy taking individual, pre-paid pictures with fans elsewhere. However, even if they were there, I could not see them clearly, let alone take a picture of them because of how long the lines were.
However, Megacon was also a great experience and did have its perks. The convention center was so huge and beautiful that I was never bored. There were always places to go and see. Also, there were a lot of great cosplays. Like any con, it has its perks and was fun, but could've been better. I might be returning next year, as I like cosplaying myself and this was a great convention to do so. Overall, it was a great day for me and my friends, and oh my glob! Yes, we cosplayed as Adventure Time!
