Pros and Cons of College

Pizza for dinner? Hell yeah! Gaining 15 pounds in a month? Oh no.

Pros and Cons of College

College is better than high school in many ways. But the freedom that comes with college can also be dangerous, you miss your parents and your dogs more than you thought you would. Staying up late is fun and exciting, but the next day you wish you would have gotten the required eight hours of sleep for your early class. Here's a list of what I think the pros and cons of college are.

PROS:

1. No curfew.

2. You can eat pizza for dinner every night.

3. Everywhere is within walking distance Freshman year.

4. New friends.

5. You can wear Nike shorts to class.

6. Most classes you can have your phone in.

7. Classes don't last all day like high school.

8. On some days you can only have one class, or even no classes.

9. Dining halls have dessert bars.

10. It's normal to stay up until 3 a.m.

11. Most of your classes don't have homework every night.

12. You get to redecorate your room basically every year.

13. You have something to do every weekend.

14. You can finish a whole Netflix season in a week and people think its impressive.

15. Your little sister isn't there to steal clothes from your closet.

CONS:

1. No curfew, making your 8 a.m. the next morning a lot harder to wake up for.

2. You can eat pizza for dinner every night and there's no one there to make you eat your vegetables so the Freshman 15 becomes a reality.

3. Everywhere is in walking distance and you very rarely leave campus all of Freshman year.

4. You make new friends, and miss your old ones like crazy.

5. There's no dress code for class, and some people take that a little too far.

6. Most classes everyone has their phone out, and then you walk out of that class realizing you didn't pay attention at all and you are not prepared for that test next week.

7. You don't have class all day, and you should probably spend that time studying, instead you go back to your room and nap for seven hours.

8. You don't have class all day? Maybe you'll go to the library. Or watch Netflix for 12 hours.

9. Dining halls have endless dessert, making the Freshman 15 even more of a reality.

10. Most people go to bed at 3 in the morning, making your 8 a.m. even more hard to get to.

11. Most have your classes don't have homework for every night, but you do have to study, a lot.

12. Redecorating your room every year is very expensive apparently.

13. Every weekend there's some event or game you go to, making Sunday night cram sessions more jam packed.

14. Making an A on a test is impressive, but finish all of Grey's Anatomy season 11 in one week is even more impressive.

15. Your little sister isn't there to steal clothes from your closet, but all 400 girls of your dorm are.

College has its ups and downs, but at the end it will all be worth it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
