As writers, we all have those nights where we want to put on the music and type for hours but sometimes the words just won't come out.

This is for the nights that nothing feels right so why not try and write something you would never have thought of.

Here are 10 writing prompts for when writer's block gets the best of you.

1. Waking up to a creature

You are laying in bed, the scratching has started on the window again and the footsteps above your bed sound louder than normal. You've told your parents but they never listen, so you lay there day in and day out until you fall asleep and wake up to the daylight and the noises have stopped.

You close your eyes and count to ten, but this time instead of falling asleep you wake up to its red eyes.

2. Unexpected visitor

The rain is pouring and all you want to see is his car drive pull up and tell you he's sorry, the car you'd been riding in for the last year. Where you've made all of your favorite memories, where you've shared your first kiss and your last one. You just wanna say you're sorry, suddenly headlights shine in the driveway and your heart skips a beat. You squint your eyes and see it's not his car but instead a car you never thought you'd see again...

3. If he wouldn't have taken the left turn it never would have happened...

4. Fast forward to the future and your parents aren't quite the same...

The year is 2036, we have learned how to conserve energy and the world is brighter and cleaner than it has ever been. No one knows how they do it and no asks questions but you've started to notice your parents acting weird, it's not until they forget your birthday you realize they aren't your parents anymore.

5. Fast forward to the future and your identity isn't quite the same anymore...

You leave your keys in class one day and the next class period you ask your teacher if anyone had turned them in, she hands them back and you leave. But taking a closer look you notice something different about your ID, you look older, the year is 2028 and your last name isn't the same.

6. You're dating an identical twin when something mysterious comes up...

You've been dating a guy who's an identical twin and one day you notice something off about him, he hadn't talked to his brother since before you were dating due to a fight.

Your boyfriend doesn't seem right these days but you think maybe he just misses his brother. You then get the call his brother has gone missing, or maybe it's your boyfriend who has and his brother has taken his place.

7. You realize your life may be in jeopardy... from a tweet

You're scrolling through Twitter one day and notice a trending tweet has nearly the same username as you, you laugh and click on it but as you start to dig deeper the twitter seems awfully familiar.

You begin to get angry thinking they've copied you until you see the dates. These tweets are from three years in the future, you continuing scrolling and see she has been tagged in a lot recently, and they all say rest in peace.

8. You race to tell your ex-boyfriend that you messed up and want him back, realizing he may not share those same feelings anymore...

The rain hits my face as I run towards the field, I knew I messed up and he had to know. I reach the top of the bleachers and start running down being as careful as I can, I can see him laying in the middle of the field.

I get to the edge of the railing and can't wait, I yell it so he can hear. "You know I should've stayed, I love you!" He sits up and suddenly I realize it wasn't just him laying on the field.

9. What if you were the main character in a book that you haven't yet written?

You find a fan fiction you love, you can relate to it so well and love reading something you can connect to. You start to get weirded out by particular connections to the story.

You reach the end of the current content and realize the main character is in her room reading a fanfiction. Suddenly words start typing on the screen, and you can hear clicking beneath your bed.

10. You can turn into an animal one day a month but...

You can choose one animal to change into one day a month, always the same animal but you can only date someone who is the same animal as you.

What animal do you choose?

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
