Dear future-big,
Hi. I'm so excited to start living life with you. I just want to tell you I am so excited and terrified. I hope you like me and we can learn from each other. I am looking forward to all of the times we'll laugh and joke around until our sides split. But I'm also really looking forward to the times when we sit down and share experiences. I know I can and will learn so much from you and I can't wait.
Without even knowing who you are, I have a couple of promises to you. Because as Lorelai Gilmore so eloquently said:
1. I promise to always make you laugh.
Whether it's doing something absolutely ridiculous like standing up in the cafeteria and singing your favorite Disney song, to sending you a silly joke I found on Pinterest.
2. I promise to be your biggest cheerleader.
With the exception of your mom because let's be real, no one beats mom. I don't know if you're musical, athletic or dramatic, but whatever you love investing your time in, you'd best believe that I'll be there for you (cue "Friends" theme song).
3. I promise to be honest.
I promise to be honest about what's going on in my life.
4. I promise to love coffee with you...
...or tea, or hot chocolate. Or whatever your current drink addiction is.
5. I promise to listen.
I wish I could promise I won't screw up, but I can't. But I can promise that I will listen to your advice and pay attention to what you say. You're probably, definitely right anyways.
6. I promise to always greet you with a hug.

Always like this, usually (read: Always) in public.
7. I promise to love food the way you do.
Food is always relevant.
8. I promise to listen to your stories and always gasp at the appropriate times.
9. I promise to always do really, really strange things to make you laugh.
Like make awkward faces at you at the most strange (and sometimes inappropriate times).
10. I promise to appreciate your sarcasm and jokes.
Emily Gilmore has got nothing on sarcasm.
11. I promise to help you study.
...or play M.A.S.H., whichever you prefer/need.
12. I promise to get excited over the LITTLE things.
(Pun semi-definitely intended).
13. I promise to hate Mondays with you.
Solidarity, sister.
14. I promise to be strong for you.
When you need to breakdown and freak out about life, school or friends, I'll be the strong one. You'll still be my hero.
15. I promise to love you and look up to you.
There's a reason that you're my Big. I already admire you and the person you are. I know that you had a great Big that you looked up to and I promise to do the same for you.
I already do.
