College is where procrastination increases exponentially. Whether it's homework or getting ready for a friend's birthday party, a lot of us wait until the very last second. Halloween isn't an exception to the rule.
Last year, I looked forward to two nights of tricking and treating and found myself without costumes. For the first night, I found a navy hat in my closet and decided that, along with lots of navy, stripes, and red, it looked enough like sailor costume. The second night, I had even less time and fewer costume starters. I had to get really creative. All dressed up in a robe, nightgown, and slouchy socks, I decided I was a pajama party. People kept asking me what I was, but it was better than being the only person at a costume party in a crop top and mini skirt.
This year, I plan on following the same suit. I have bunny ears and a bunny tail in my closet, so I'll just wear all white and viola (I'm a bunny!). There are lots of other ways to create last minute costumes that you can make from your wardrobe!
School Girl
Most of us have one friend who graduated from a school that had uniforms, and a good friend would let you borrow it. All you need is a pair of knee highs, the borrowed plaid skirt, a cute headband, and any matching button down. Pick a shoe that matches the color scheme and you're rocking a uniform Blair Waldorf would approve of.
Writer
This one is fairly simple. All you really need is a button down, heels and a skirt or dress pants. Put your hair in a bun with a pen through it and carry a notebook opened to a rough draft. You'll be editor-in-chief in no time!
Teacher
Dressing as a teacher is simple, too. A plain sweater, skirt, tights, glasses, and heels make the perfect teacher-esque ensemble. An apple and a ruler will complete the outfit and you'll earn an outstanding A+.
Athlete
Athletes are easy to imitate. Grab any jersey and wear the appropriate shorts or pants. Add some sneakers and a helmet or sweatband and you're ready to head out. You'll be the real MVP of any party.
I must admit a lot of these are typical or common costumes, but beggars can't afford to be choosers, and you did wait until last minute. Even simple outfits are fun because the costumes are all about being someone else for a night.
Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your Halloweekend!
