The Process You Take When Posting an Instagram

Everyone is obsessed with their Instagram account and if you're not, then you're lying. Instagram made its amazing debut back in 2010 as a free mobile app. As of 2015, Instagram is vastly popular. If you're not on Instagram, then you need to download the app right now and make an account ASAP.

For those of you who have a personal Instagram account, you will completely understand how I feel when you pull up your account and see an array of different posts from breakfast foods, to selfies, to puppies, to beach pics, and so on. I have collected a list of processes everyone takes when they're perfecting their Instagram posts.

1. Perfecting the best filter.

Face it we all spend a good hour or so finding the 'right' filter for the photo that we took 5 minutes ago. We will literally go mad editing the photo just to make sure it looks 'good'. I'm not going to lie I spend more time finding a filter than I did actually taking the picture itself. I'm always debating whether to go with the 'VALENCIA' or 'LO-FI' filter but I just don't know which would be better?! The struggle is seriously so real you guys!

2. Perfecting your caption.

Should I write a paragraph tribute for my friend's birthday? Maybe I should put a quote? Or maybe a cute little inside joke between my friend and I? Or maybe I can just go with no caption at all? I'm trying to be clever. But I can't form a suitable caption. Hmm, decisions, decisions....

3. Emoji or no emoji that is the question.

I never know whether to add an emoji along with my caption or just have an emoji as its caption. Emoji's can make a world of difference to your Instagram post. There is something special about having a little animated girl representing you and your friends. Though the little dancing girl emoji's look nothing like you and your friends, their matching leotards are on point though.

4. #Hashtags

It's really a process what to put as your hashtag. Clearly it needs to correspond with the image you're posting. I find it nauseating trying to read 10 or fifteen different hashtags that go along with one's picture. #KeepItSimpleStupid #KISS

5. Location, Location, Location.

Picking the perfect location for your post is a real task. You have to decide are you going to choose your actual location or will you and your friends use an inside joke that everyone on your Instagram will be like "Um I don't get it?" The options are endless!

6. The Selfie.

Yes, you know you have posted a selfie on Instagram. If you haven't, than you are rare breeds. Perfecting the 'perfect' selfie is an art form. You have to get the perfect angle, lighting, and facial expression whether that's a duck face, smise, or old fashion smile. Once you have taken the 'perfect' selfie, it's Instagram worthy.

7. Whether to post early during the day or later at night.

It's a constant battle determining whether I should post my selfie in the morning, afternoon, or at night. When are people most likely to be creeping on their Instagram's? Usually I think "Oh people will see this while waking up or on their lunch break." So Morning and afternoon are the best times right? But I realized that late night posts get 'likes'. Alright it's settled...post all day long!

8. Group Shot.

This is by far one of the most grueling tasks to accomplish. If you can gather 10 of your closest friends and grab a selfie stick you're in luck! Or you could always go old school and get someone to take a picture of you all. There is something fun and exhilarating about trying to accomplish taking a group shot. If everyone fits in the frame SUCCESS!

9. Analyzing the picture to the point where you end up deleting it within an hour.

Don't lie, you know you have posted a picture you thought was great, but then kept staring and realized how awful it truly was. You immediately delete it hoping that barely anyone saw it. Or for those that did see, hoping they have forgotten how atrocious that photo truly was.

10. Freaking out when your picture doesn't hit double digits.

I have this mini panic attack if my photo has been up for an extended amount of time and there are like 6 'likes' on it. I'm like "Where is everyone?!" I have to tell myself it's only an Instagram post, but when I hit those double digits I feel relief. I know, it's pathetic, but I get a rush when it gets those eleven 'likes' and doesn't just have those 10 other names sitting there.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
