Laying in bed tonight, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw some pictures, quotes and posts about America that I just can't quite agree with. It amazes me how much our country has changed in the past 10 to 15 years, and I am sad to say that I don't think it was for the better.
Now I'm not really the type of person who watches the news every night, and yes I too get annoyed with all the political talk on social media, but when it comes to things such as people jumping and walking all over our flag, disrespecting our troops that are fighting for our freedom, and trying to take God out of pretty much everything, that's when I become pretty upset.
Our flag is more than just a piece of fabric flying in the wind. It represents who we are, who we were and who we have become, and many lives have been lost defending it! Adrian Cronauer quoted, "The American flag represents all of us and all the values we hold sacred." With that being said, how does it look when pictures are posted of Americans throwing it on the ground, jumping and stomping on it?
I have major respect for those men and women who go off and leave their homes, families, jobs and lives behind to go and fight for our freedom; I will never be able to thank them enough for it. The fact that I can go to bed every night knowing I am safe is such a huge blessing! For those who don't know how to be thankful and respect them, I feel bad for you! It takes a pretty selfish and hateful person to disrespect someone who is not just fighting for me, but for you and your family too.
Our country was centered and built on God, and now people are trying to take Him out of everything. We use to be able to pray and speak freely about God and have no one take any offense to it, but now you have to be careful where and how you speak about Him. Schools are taking prayer out, teachers are getting fired for speaking of God in the classroom and police officers aren't allowed to have "In God We Trust" printed anywhere. I don't get how people think that we, mere humans, can do it all by ourselves.
You want to know how to make America great again? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. It's not by building a wall or giving people free college; I'll tell you that much! We can make America great by putting God first, and remembering that without him we definitely wouldn't have made it this far. We can stop disrespecting the flag and those who fought and died for it and start being less selfish and more thankful. We are all a part of something that could be great, but instead we are the ones who are tearing it all apart. Are you willing to make America great again?
“In God, whose word I praise — in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” — Psalm 56:4
