Once my first year of college ended, I started envisioning all the things I would do this summer: adventure with my friends, travel the country, and of course, work. When I got home from school for the summer I began reaching out to employers with the hopes of finding a job. What I didn't expect was to hear from one of the families I used to babysit for in high school. They wanted me to watch their kids on a daily basis and if I accepted the opportunity, I would start as soon as possible. Without a hesitation, I took the job. Initially, I wasn't sure how long this job opportunity would last but I soon learned that it would become my full-time employment for the summer. And now that it has been a little over a month since it began, I have learned a lot watching both an energetic seven-year-old and a lighthearted one-year-old. With that being said, here are a few scenarios (that I've experienced) that determine whether or not you are a pro babysitter.
1. You can make many bottles in under a minute
When the baby is hungry, time is of the essence so this skill is sure to come in handy.
2. Snapchat filters are prime
This is probably the funniest way to make both you and the kids happy at the same time.
3. Nap time = the best time
Whether you use this time to chill or clean up around the house, when the baby finally falls asleep you feel like anything is possible
4.You know all the words to the classic nursery rhymes
After weeks of these upbeat tunes circling through the house, they grow on you and before you know it you can sing along with the kids at any point of the day.
5. Multi-tasking becomes second-nature
By now, you can feed the kids, do the dishes, and dance along to music all at the same time.
6. You leave at the end of the day feeling more exhausted than ever before
Because, well, you're a pro babysitter.
