A recent video posted by "Team Rubio" on Facebook and also on YouTube by Marco Rubio himself has gone viral with over 10,000,000 views. Marco Rubio is a son of immigrant parents originally from Cuba who escaped from the oppression of Fidel Castro. He was born in and has lived in Florida his entire life where he resides as a Republican Florida Senator.
Over the course of the last year, the Republican Presidential field has grown to a large number of candidates. With New Hampshire and Iowa being two of the biggest states that influence Republican candidates for the nomination of the Republican party, the candidates have been involved in heated campaigns and debates for the recent months. As Rubio made his way through his campaign in Iowa, he was presented with a question from a man that represents the major voter block of atheists and non-theist individuals, one of the fastest growing voter blocks of today's society. The man comments on Rubio's stance on religious freedom and questions Rubio if he can be a president that upholds their (atheist and non-theist) rights being a Christian man himself.
As a Christian myself, I always strive to live a life by example. When people meet me, when they become friends with me or even overhear my conversations with people, I always hope that I am being an example of Christ. I would never impose my values or degrade someone because of what they believe, and I think that's exactly what Marco Rubio does here. He clearly states that all American people have the freedom and the right to believe whatever they want, but for him personally, it guides his life and his decisions. I respect Marco Rubio's answer to this man's question, and if his faith guides the way he leads our country, I am absolutely okay with that because of what the Christian faith calls him to do--serve people, help people, simply care about the needs of humanity. Take a look at the video below to see exactly how Marco Rubio integrates his faith into his political views and plans for the United States:
