The air is cooling, the lightning bugs are fading (why couldn't it be the mosquitoes??) and the nights are getting shorter. As summer once again comes to an end, college students across the country are united in one shared focus: going back to school.

Whether you like it or not, it's almost time to trade in those cold Diet Cokes for pumpkin spice lattes, sunglasses for scarves, and rompers for your warmest pair of leggings. But for some people, this time of the year also includes saying goodbye to your favorite four-legged friend. In honor of bidding farewell to Fido, here's preparing to go back to school as told by a heckin' ton of doggos.

1. When you realize summer is almost over.

August snuck up on you faster than you can chase your favorite tennis ball.

2. Making sure you have something cool to contribute to those inevitable get-to-know-you ice breakers.

You may have spent the entirety of your summer watching "Friends" reruns and eating ice cream, but you won't admit it until you've at least gotten past Syllabus Week.

3. Cleaning out all the bins of stuff you brought home last spring and never unpacked.

And then getting sidetracked.

4. Giving your sibling some extra love before you leave.

Tough love, that is.

5. Ordering your text books online...

6. And proceeding to be *shook* by the prices of said books.

Isn't tuition putting you in enough debt? At least you're not majoring in the sciences.

7. Squeezing in a bit of R&R before the stress of the semester kicks in.

Kick back with the newest edition of Modern Dog and let all your troubles melt away...

8. Trying to scrounge up some costumes for all those inevitable themed parties.

Is it acceptable to do a couples costume with your dog? You're pretty sure you could rock the "Daenerys Targaryen and her dragon" look.

9. Taking advantage of all the free meals at home.

That'll be one doggy bag for me, please.

10. Going to Target for school supplies and inevitably buying wayyyyyy too much stuff.

You should have known you couldn't trust yourself in the home decor aisle.

11. Going to the dentist, refilling your prescriptions, going to the doctor, getting the oil in your car changed, going to the orthodontist, making sure your finances are in order, and otherwise attempting to adult.

So. Many. Appointments.

12. Being very efficient in your packing efforts, obviously.

Totally not just messing around. Totally.

13. Trying to squeeze all your essentials into the back of your car.

And being in denial when they don't fit.

14. Saying goodbye to your parents

And subtly reminding them to send you pictures of your dog. You can't miss it the next time they fall asleep with their tongue hanging out the side of their mouth.

15. Finally hitting the road.

The day has finally come. Make sure you're blasting "Who Let the Dogs Out" on your way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
