“The Real World” Three little words that we’ve been hearing for the majority of our lives. When we were in elementary school, the real world was middle school, when we were in middle school, the real world was high school and when we were in high school, the real world was college. See where I’m going with it? What exactly is the real world? Let me tell you this much, the real world is nothing to fear.
Many people fear their plans for after college, but let’s be real here, you’ve been planning your whole life for the real world, there’s no way you won’t be successful. I mean we didn’t take freshman year high school geometry for nothing, right? Don’t fear the real world, each person that is out there in the world has been in your shoes and has gone through every step that you have.
Taxes, Savings accounts, 401K’s, paperwork, loans, marriage, children! All things that we have no idea about, literally, no idea. But don’t worry, there is actually nothing to worry about. To succeed out there in the real world, post-college or whatever, just be smart about things, be ready to make decisions, don’t be afraid to take chances, and try new things. Trust me, the real world would feel like nothing after you’re done. Just be smart about everything. Don’t worry and be happy, a great man said that once and those are words to live by.
There will always be people there to help you. Parents, girlfriend, family, siblings, whoever there will always be people willing there to help. No matter if you’re single or whatever, there will always be someone to help. Be ready to use their help, because trust me at some point in your life you will realize that you need someone else’s help, that’s nothing to fear or be embarrassed about.
When people mention the real world, they really mean that you better have been planning for your future. Sure planning is important, sure being able to picture having a family or getting a job after school is good to keep in the back of your head, but a person can’t live their life just by planning. Life is meant to be spontaneous, life is meant to have uncertainties, life is meant to be fun. Not saying that there is no fun in planning for the future, but there’s a bit more fun having some uncertainties, trust me. But still plan just a little bit for the future, it’ll pay off in the future.
