Preparing For College As Told By Supernatural

As seniors in high school, we have all experienced the stress of preparing for college. The struggles of keeping our grades up, maintaining a high GPA, and scoring well on the SAT/ACT are all familiar to us. There are days where you just say, “Screw it. I don’t care if I get into college or not.” And then there are the days where you say, “NO, MOM. I DON’T WANT HOT COCOA. I NEED TO STUDY TO GET A GOOD GRADE ON THIS TEST IF I WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE.” While the process of preparing for college may be a long one, it is most certainly more bearable when you have someone who understands what you're going through. Trust me: I know what you’re going through. Follow these steps and I promise you, you will make America great again.

1. Survive high school.

l

Think of high school as college try outs. If you can make it through high school, you’ve got a shot at actually succeeding in life. Now, moving on to the big leagues…

2. Take the SAT/ACT.

The SATs and ACTs play a big part in getting you into college. When you take the test, you may feel like crying, crying, and/or crying (have you tried crying?). If you can, I highly recommend taking the test with a friend so you can make the above faces at each other. It makes taking the test much more amusing.

3. Choose a major.

You’ll probably want to do this as soon as possible. Like Cas said, this is your life and your choice. People are going to try to persuade you to do something you don’t want to do. Luckily, if you choose the wrong major for you, you can always switch.

4. Choose a college.

There are so many to choose from. You have to decide whether you want to stay in state or move away. After that, you have to make sure the college you choose provides your major.

5. The application process.

The application process can be as simple or as difficult as you make it. You might be one of those people who submits everything on time like they were supposed to. Or you might be one of those people who waits until the night before and almost misses the deadline. *Cough* Me. *Cough*

6. Admission essays.

For some people, writing an essay is like breathing. It just comes naturally. But if you’re like me, writing an essay is like picking up salt grains with chopsticks. It’s just another thing you have to train yourself to do. I’m not saying that it’s going to be easy, but it’ll hopefully get better.

7. Cry.

After you’ve gone through the emotional torture of filling out all the applications for multiple colleges, you deserve a good cry. You are most likely broke from having to pay application fees. But that just means that you are one step closer to becoming a poor college student. Congratulations!

8. Submit everything to the college or your choice.

Finish up your online applications or send in your forms by mail and pray that you remembered to submit your FAFSA.

9. Wait for the acceptance letter.

Most likely, you won’t have time to sit and twiddle your thumbs. You’ll probably find something to distract you such as school, friends, books, or a job. If you have none of these things, I am sorry. I volunteer to be your friend.

10. If you don't get accepted, cry some more.

Self explanatory. Get 'er done.

12. Repeat steps 5-9.

You can do this.

13. Wait for the acceptance letter.

Remember, no thumb twiddling. Find a buddy.

14. Once you're accepted, you are allowed to shamelessly happy dance.

You do you, Booboo, you do you.

If you've already gone through this process, bless your soul. If you are currently going through this process, I'm praying for you. If you haven't started this process, I don't know what you've been doing but I pray for your deliverance.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
