Since the beginning, we have always dreamt of our happily ever after; the fairy tale God wrote for us. We have spent year after year wondering who “the one” is and if we have met them yet. I often find myself wondering this and whether our paths have crossed yet. If and when God will introduce me to him, and how. I am only 20 and still have years before I get married, but in the meantime, I pray; I pray for him. Because I refuse to settle for anything less than what God is preparing for me, including the man I will spend my “ever after” with.
I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with someone who doesn’t love the Lord. Therefore I pray for the one who seeks God for guidance in his life. I pray for the man who loves the way God loves him. I pray that He will seek God during the hard times, and will understand when His answer to his prayers he cries out to Him are a “no.” I pray for the one who pursues the Lord daily. For the man who thanks God for the simple things and appreciates life’s little miracles daily.
I pray for the one who my children will know as a father who loves. Who they can come to when they have trials and tribulations, as well as will celebrate with them during successes throughout their lives. I pray that He will be the example of a true man for our son, and the one our daughter can look up to and be her first love. I pray for the man who my children will be lucky to have. I pray my children know their father loves the Lord dearly and will lead our family in the way that pursues Him. I pray for the man who I know is praying for them.
I pray that He is humble and kind; that his heart is loyal and true. I pray He is patient…(because Lord knows he will need it with me!) I pray that our marriage will be built around God and His word. That no matter how hard times may get, he will never give up on our marriage, our children or his dreams.
I pray for the man God is preparing my heart for. And I pray He is preparing his heart for mine, as well. Lastly, I pray that he is praying for me, just as I am praying for him.
