The role of women in society has always been a hot topic of conversation. The fight for equal pay, tax on feminine products, breast feeding in public and many more are obstacles women deal with quite often. But what about mental health? Over the years in America and all over the world, the role of women in society has changed drastically and continues too. In the early 1900s, women stayed predominately in the household. They cared for the children and completed chores around the home, while tending to a husbands needs, if there was one.
As years passed, women began to take roles outside the house hold by taking positions in the work force and different tasks that previously would not have been an option. Some leaderships women hold today include roles in congress, state office positions, and legislature. Even athletically, women are being given more opportunities.
Although there have been many strides towards equality with men, and women are now "considered" equal, discrimination still exists today. A few of the pressing issues consist of are the overall wage gap for women, poverty, disability resources, sick leave circumstances, and body shaming, being one of the most talked about.
According to USA Today, women are criticized for their weight, physical appearance, fashion sense, and make up. In the modern day, the support for women has been building up. Across social media, uplifting events, comments, and strides towards equality have been proving to be successful.
Women across the world have proven to be a force that will be reckoned with.
