The Power of Peace: How To Take Back Power Over Your Life

Do you know what peace is? Maybe you have an idea, but you aren't completely certain? I'm here to give you examples of the power peace holds in your everyday life without you even knowing it, and ultimately tell you what peace means to me.

Often, we take to obsessing and stressing as our default when something goes wrong in our lives. Whether it be a failed test, arguing with parents, being bullied, ignored, or just feeling unimportant, peace could play a huge role in all of these and shine a light where there is darkness.

To live in a space where you accept horrible circumstances, but choose to allow God's peace to fill you and encourage you despite whatever it is you're going through is a space very difficult to break. For example, my music teacher told me that I should consider dropping his class because of how poorly I was doing. Although it hurt to hear, I truly believed that Jesus would not allow me to fail no matter what any professor said to me. Although I was failing, I felt like I was passing the course, so I kept my head and waited for my circumstances to change. He warned me that if I did not pass the second next test that I would not pass the course. I made the highest grade in the entire class.

I have accepted that what will be, will be; and that whatever happens God will make sure that my life ends in victory. Another example would be when I accepted that chasing someone who is not putting in the same effort, may be a person to let go. I may miss them and the relationship, but after accepting that not everyone is meant to be a friend but simply a lesson, I was not in pain. Some people will come into your life and stay while others will come in and leave.

The important thing to remember, however, is that God is constant and in him you will always have a friend.

I myself am still learning to accept things which means accepting peace, but I know how it feels from my own experiences. Although it is a hard thing to do, finding peace means finding power over yourself and your circumstances. Learn to accept things with the wisdom of how to change them and see how much power you gain over your life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
