Early last week, J.K. Rowling announced that she will be releasing the script for "The Cursed Child." the script takes place 19 years after "The Deathly Hallows." It picks up at the train station where Harry is taking his children where they each are on their way to Hogwarts, some even for the first time. I for one will be waiting in line to relive my childhood and read yet another J.K. Rowling book. In honor of the release of "The Cursed Child," I have complied a list of my favorite quotes from each of the seven "Harry Potter" books.
1. “After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." -- "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"
2. “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” -- "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
3. “You think the dead we have loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don’t recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble?”-- "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"
4. “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” -- "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"
5. “Just because you’ve got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.” -- "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"
6. “It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more.” -- "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"
7. “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.” -- "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"
Picking one quote from each book was a hard task to do. There are thousands of pages of amazing writing, and narrowing it down was impossible. I could pick a quote from each chapter that spoke to me at some point in time.
I know when this book comes out I will savor it. When "The Deathly Hallows" came out, I was in elementary school and read the book in 36 hours. I cried when it ended because what felt like a part of me was over. The pages have become more and more worn over the years, but the same feeling comes back every time I read the words on each page. It's magical: I'm taken to another world, a world where dragons and flying brooms exist. This world was where I went when I was feeling down when the real world around me was overwhelming me.
So, all my Potterhead friends out there, be prepared to stand and wait in line for the next J.K. Rowling book. I for one will be in line the night before so I can get one of the first copies, because once a "Harry Potter" fan, always a "Harry Potter" fan.
