Senior year of high school, I had a heavy rush of artistic energy constantly flowing in me. My passion for film grew heavier and heavier, along with acting. Directing, producing, editing, and acting all became quick passions of mine. These were influential enough for me to purchase a camera along with two tripods, and lights so I can learn how to manage film and explore that world.

The first project I worked on was a drug abuse film, where a high school aged boy goes to a party in hopes of talking to his crush, only for her to influence him to do drugs that result in a naked and memory-losing awakening. The second film I worked on was a Public Service Announcement for anxiety disorders. I cast a group of students from my school, all in different departmental concentrations to talk about what anxiety disorders are like and resources to help them.

This brings me to where I am now. It's been about a year that I've been forming this idea, discussing with my best friend, along with his cousin to fully go into what I want this film to be about from the plot, characters, conflicts, setting, and music. This film will revolve around a high school aged boy, who has a passion for the arts, and his mother, who is trying to run away from a life of drugs. They move to a new neighborhood, with his mother's high hopes that drugs are behind her. The main character then has to make new friends in a school that looks at people into the arts in a lower light. There, he meets a girl, who is in an abusive relationship and desperately trying to get out without harm being done to her or anyone else. Once her boyfriend finds out that she made another male friend, a conflict arises with violence and verbal aggression.

The main character also has to deal with bullying, and finding an outlet in the arts. He meets KJ and Precious, who are supporters of him. They all grow very close and they begin in a sense, protect him. Essentially, the film revolves around drug abuse, violence, abusive relationships, coping, and the arts. This idea has only been toyed with, notes and playlists made, but a script or storyboards haven't been built yet.

I wish to have students interested in both the film world and the acting world who are interested take part in this to create the most realistic and empowering films that tells a story that could really benefit those who go through any of the topics dealth with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
