The amount of time girls spend setting up for pictures, dressing up for pictures, taking pictures, and editing pictures is insane, and TBH I am one of those girls.

I’m one of those girls who suggests going downtown or somewhere just to take pictures. I’m one of those girls who spends a solid 45 minutes finding the perfect outfit for pictures and going through six different outfits in the process. I’m one of those girls whose camera roll is 200 pictures straight of essentially the same picture of my friends and I in different poses.

Yes. I’m really basic.

Whether you’re closet basic, or loud and proud basic like me, there is a place in the Kansas City area you NEED to know about.

The Selfie Boutique.

A super cute, super unique, and super fun place to spend an afternoon and take the perfect Instagram pics!

It’s the perfect excuse to dress up, get dolled, and head downtown to Westport with your besties!

THE Salacia, Molly Balloons and a ton of other Kansas City artists have come together to make an art playground, perfect for taking selfies in front of, inside of, and on top of all their backdrops.#beleiveinyourselfie is what they are all about, taking out any shame that comes with taking a selfie and encouraging you to take as many as possible!

So far they have had two different exhibits, and their newest one just opened up February 16th and is here to stay for a while.

So of course I grabbed my friends Meg and Tomara, and went last weekend… and I’d give it a 10/10 for everything!

The backdrops are super creative, soooo cute, and they had the perfect lighting set up! Complete with lighting rings and white, reflective umbrellas!

I swear, I’ve never looked better in a picture until the ones I took here!

Pose after pose, selfie after selfie, I was free to be as basic, yet creative as I wanted to be. There’s no shame in taking an obscene number of pictures here because it’s what everyone around you is doing.

(No shame in getting all the angles either, the people here really encourage you to just do you).

My personal favorite backdrop was the

Sky room

And the flower wall…

The hippy dippy corner

Candy Land

An abstract alcove

A room full of twinkles

And a couple other set-ups

I’m tempted to keep going back weekend after weekend in different outfits just to have a tons of adorable pictures to post on my insta, but that’s a little too extra, even for me.

But don’t take my or my friend’s opinion on it, go check it out for yourself! I promise you’ll fall in love and you’ll get the most likes you’ve ever gotten on an Instagram pic because they are just that perfect!

They are open from noon-10 p.m. week days and till midnight on weekends, so you really don’t have an excuse not to go now!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
