A Possible Solution to ISIS

I do not promote violence or war, but ISIS has played their hand and now we need to act.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the Orlando shooting last week. CNN reported that 49 people were killed in this attack with many more wounded. With the Paris, Belgium and Orlando attacks all from the same source being from ISIS, I feel that our final answer to resolve this threat is the elimination of ISIS.

Let me begin by making this clear that I am directly discussing people affiliated with ISIS, not Muslims, not people from the Middle East or refugees. In this post, I am discussing the terrorist group known as ISIS. This is a group of people that can no longer be reasoned with logic. ISIS is a group that seeks out to destroy anyone that does not believe in what they truly believe. We have seen through history how influence can change how people think and reason. ISIS has shown no empathy and has only the thought process to murder innocent people.

Is taking someone's life justified? I believe if someone is going to kill either you or someone else, and you have the choice and ability to stop this person from taking your life or someone else's life, then I believe that taking a life to save a life is justified. That does not mean I want this to happen, and I hope that we are never in the situation where we have to make that choice.

War has changed over the decades. Take World War II where we saw nations marching into other countries, and we knew who was our enemy by the flags they waved, the uniforms they wore and the countries they represented. That is not the type of fighting we have now in our generation. Our enemies live among us. They wait to strike and they do not attack other soldiers, they murder innocent people. This is not a country looking for conquest, this is a group looking for destruction and chaos.

How are we to resolve this issue? We could send troops to the middle east and try to uncover what they can find, but I believe that their main mission should be to protect all the innocent people falling victim to ISIS. I have no military or strategy experience, but I feel that this war is going to be a game of cloak and dagger. That means that ISIS uses the art of surprise against us, and I believe that we have to do the same to prevent these attacks. What ISIS lacks is resources and intellectual skills of analysis. ISIS has the one strategy of waiting then attacking. I believe that we are capable of identifying where attacks will be using our advance technology and our thought processes. If we use the art of surprise to stop potential attackers, then this could be a major turning point for us. ISIS will have to form a new strategic plan to attack us which could give us the advantage of identifying their commanders.

I wish I could say that if we reason with ISIS that maybe we can have some form of peace, but they have made their motives clear in what they believe and what they will do. They can no longer reason as human beings, and with them killing innocent people, we must take action to eliminate ISIS. We must do this not because we want to bring destruction, but because they brought this chaos to us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
