Having a large family has a big impact on a person's life as they grow older. Some people have big families, but you wouldn't know because regardless of size, some family members are just strangers. Related or not, close friends are still considered family at some point. Large families can be the best support systems yet drive you insane all at the same time.
Pros:
1. There are always events going on.
A good thing about having a large sized family is that a majority of the time, there is something to do with them. There is always that one member hosting a cookout, outing, party, or dinner. Whether big or small, somewhere down the family tree a member is inviting people out.
2. Greater support system.
Growing up with a huge family allows for a larger, stronger support system when needed. Take the journey of high school as an example. One member of the family may be the "go to" guy for pictures, another member may be the one everyone goes to for tutoring or planning school projects.
3. Less lonely moments.
There aren't too many if any at all dull moments in bigger families. Siblings and cousins can have more fun together especially if they do not have friends to hang out with.
Cons:
1. Increased family drama.
I know from experience that the larger that the family is, the more members are in your personal business. Yes families should be close, but not everyone who is related is actually family or can be told everything.
2. Everything has to be shared on split.
I have five siblings and I have noticed my parents and friends' parents have to give small portions to siblings in order for each of them to be included.
3. Expensive cost.
It is already difficult to consistently support one's self. imagine how expensive it must be to care for an entire family and keep them happy at the same time!
