Pop Punk Is So NOT Dead

I am a newfound 21-year-old and let me tell you, I don't feel that much different. However, it has recently occurred to me that I have been alive for 21 years of music and for a majority of those, I've been jamming to pop punk.

So if you're around my age, here are some of the songs you definitely know by heart and get hype whenever you hear:

1) SUGAR, WE'RE GOIN DOWN - FALL OUT BOY

.... this one is a personal favorite. All of my friends know that when this song comes on, do not come near me for those 3 minutes and 49 seconds because I will absolutely be goin' down swinging.

2) DEAR MARIA COUNT ME IN - ALL TIME LOW

3) I WRITE SINS, NOT TRAGEDIES - PANIC! AT THE DISCO

4) IN TOO DEEP - SUM 41

5) I MISS YOU - BLINK 182

6) BEST OF ME - THE STARTING LINE

7) MISERABLE AT BEST - MAYDAY PARADE

8) HIGH SCHOOL NEVER ENDS - BOWLING FOR SOUP

9) OCEAN AVENUE - YELLOWCARD

10) I'M NOT OKAY (I PROMISE) - MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

11) THE ANTHEM - GOOD CHARLOTTE

12) MISERY BUSINESS - PARAMORE

13) I'M JUST A KID - SIMPLE PLAN

14) MY OWN WORST ENEMY - LIT

15) THE MIDDLE - JIMMY EAT WORLD

16) MY FRIENDS OVER YOU - NEW FOUND GLORY

17) MAKEDAMNSURE- TAKING BACK SUNDAY

18) GRAND THEFT AUTUMN - FALL OUT BOY

19) SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW - LUSTRA

20) STACY'S MOM - FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE

21) THE ROCK SHOW -BLINK 182

See what I did there ...21 songs for my 21st birthday! I hope this list brought back some good (or bad if you were an emo kid like me) memories. Enjoy!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
