"Pokémon is back."
That is what the little grey bubble on my phone screen read a few days ago. The double text I received afterwards explained Pokémon Go and the new age of Pokémon.
As the week went on, I noticed that more and more people seemed to know what this was and that Pokémon really was making a huge comeback. It was a technological revolution like no other.
Honestly, the game has the power to change our society. Millennials will continue to incorporate technology into their daily lives, but with this new app there is a sort of balance between social networking and actually socializing. For instance, I have never seen more groups of adolescents than I have the past week. It's obvious to spot them too, as they walk around with their phones up, pointing and laughing. It took me back to the adventure of my childhood and all the fond memories I made with friends. Sure these memories include smartphones, but this is a new generation and they're just doing the best they can.
Pokémon Go also combats laziness while millennials strive to catch 'em all. I know so many people who have actually spent days outside while playing this game. It gets people moving and more active despite the insanely humid weather that seems to be taking over the summer.
My friend thought she was joking when she told me that Pokémon Go connects people, but it honestly does. Kids have been working together the past week to find better Pokémon. Not to mention, it's also seems as though almost every millennial knows what it is. It's a game that we can all relate to because it's what we grew up with. Pokémon Go has the power to change us, in a positive way, as we incorporate technology into every part of our lives. I'm up for the challenge - are you?
